Is there a song that really hits home?

I was driving home from the airport a few weeks ago. I had just returned from my 6 weeks of hell; trying to save my Mom from cancer and later dealing with her estate after those efforts failed. Be it God, or karma, or what, just as I pulled in the driveway a song came on the radio and I just lost it crying. It was 'You and me Against the World', by Helen Reddy. I had never even heard (or heard of) this song before. Talk about hitting home (its about a single mother and only child). Still cant get over the timing. So do any of you have a special song that hits home with respect to your loss like that?

MY WIFE HATED THIS SONG, UNTIL SHE BEAME A CHRISTIAN IN APRIL. AFTERWARD SHE'D CLOSE HER EYES AND DANCE AROUND THE ROOM W/ HER EYES CLOSED.

I also like "I hope you had the time of your life," by Green Day (or is it called turning Point?)

A lot of songs make me cry for my Mom. The most special song is "I Just Called to Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder. I thought of that as my Mom and Dad's song because they used to sing it together (not very well - LOL). I even had that song as my Mom's ring tone in my cell phone. "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe is another special song - makes me think about what my Mom is doing in Heaven right now. "One More Day" by Diamond Rio is another sure-fire tear jerker for me because I would love one more day with my Mom..... even one more minute. "Wind Beneath My Wings" is another one because, after God, she was the wind beneath my wings. There's a song by Josh Groban that I think is called "You Raise Me Up" - that one makes me think of Mom too. I think a lot of songs are going to get to me right now because I'm so emotional. Yes I do. I have 3 of them. Spirit Dancer by Black Hawk, Unchained Melody by the righteous brothers and the Dance by Garth Brooks. Spirit Dancer makes me cry for my son, Unchained Melody for my late husband and The Dance is for my sister

"Bridge Over Troubled Waters" by the divine Miss M always makes me cry.

My son was always there for me, and I for him!

Isn't the Sweet Child of Mine song a Carole King song from way back? If anyone knows, please let me know. I have only heard it a couple of times and its beautiful. That song and "You Raise Me Up" is special to me because it was special to my little sort of granddaughter named Dasey that died from leukemia about 3 or 4 years ago now. Its so funny how the time kind of gets away from you and its difficult to even come up with the exact time that has passed. I think (for myself) it has something to do with blocking out the pain.

its how I feel ever since my brother passed away...it came on once while I was at a grocery store and started to cry....and I never cry....but since his death that's all I do....the pain of his loss is always with me...

I love "You Raise Me Up" especially recently. It reminds of Jesus and of my Mom who always encouraged me and wanted me to feel good about myself.

yes gamgam the song is called "Child of Mine" by Carole King. That is one of the songs that gets me because my papa used to sing it to me everynight when I would visit him. Other songs that get me are "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong & "Gospel Song" by Black Rebel Motorcyle Club because they were both at my Papa's funeral picked out by him.

"All summer long" by kidrock which was Simon's favourite song, and was played at his funeral...and keeps following us around, especially the day after his death...it totally frecked Kaylah out until I told her it was just Dads way of saying 'hi' and that he isn't far away...

If you have not heard the songs it talks about how you are expected to go on which seems impossible. My mom palys the song at least once a day for my brother.

My son's favorite son was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and we played it at his funeral so I cannot even listen to it now and the other is Mama I'm comin home by Ozzy really brings the tears out. It has been 2 1/2 years but feels like yesterday to me. He wsa 18 when he was killed in Iraq.
