With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

Hehehe funny. I LOVE cultural differences.

This isn't really a cultural differences story, more of a language barrier story. So one time a German friend said to me "One time this baby vale was licking my hand". And I said "WHAT? A baby WHALE?" She said "yeah a vale". It took a while to click. Then I said "ohhhhhh. HAHAHA. When you say "vale" you mean "veal". Nonono a baby cow is called a calf. The MEAT of a baby cow is called veal. I thought you were talking about getting licked by a baby whale!"

Hahaha. I hear hilarious translation issues pretty much on a daily basis with my students and basically everywhere in Taiwan. All of the funny internet posts about failed Chinese translations on signs and menus are SO true. One of the most hilarious English attempts I heard was from one of my younger students with very limited English...I asked her if a little girl who was holding her mom's hand was her sister. She told me "No, that one not my mommy make." She meant it was her cousin, lol.

Ha ha ha, great stories! I'll have to think of a funny one from Latin America..... one big thing is that they always call toes "fingers".... because in Spanish there's only one word for toes and fingers, "dedos".... so I've heard friends say things like "my fingers are smelly" etc.

That's just the most obvious one that comes to mind but there are definitely more.
