Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
It feels like I am floating above myself...I know where I am, can carry on coversation, tell you what day it is, but I do not feel as if I am completely here. I have felt this way for years, but over the past year or two, have seemed to escape into this state more often - every day, and sometimes, i spend the entire day in a fog. The slightest bit of overwhelm or anxiety (most often), but even sadness and depression, sends me up into the clouds again. It feels dizzying, makes me want to put my head down and close my eyes, but i know if i did, i could not rest... my mind runs 1000 miles a minute, i feel my heart racing and my breathing shallow and quick. The only time i can rest is once i reach a point of exhaustion.
The feeling leads to me feeling depressed - i have felt as if i am missing out on much of life, feeling only half here, and that saddens me deeply. This feeling frightens me also, as it feels, at times, as if i am losing my mind - the ability to think, concentrate, read, carry conversation - I have always loved to learn and read and think, I love deep conversation, and yet these things are out of reach when i feel this way. It feels as if i am unable to will my brain to work.
I've been working on learning to better regulate my emotions and am holding onto hope that I can work on this and that I will not feel this way forever, that I can better learn to accept and embrace my emotions, and not always feel the need to escape from myself.
Can anyone relate? What has your experience been? What has helped? I would love to hear from others who might have gone through/be going through something similar. I am feeling particularly lonely right now.
Thanks so much for reading and to whomever is reading this, I hope you are well and taking good care of yourself.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
The more you express the words writing, the easier it is to move forward.
Focus on the task which you are doing. Ground your thoughts to the task.
Best wishes.
Do you have a therapist? They can help you identify triggers and provide coping skills. Best wishes.
Grounding exercises are what bring me back from the float zone most effectively. Tactile grounding is my fave. Feeling my fingers on the skin of my arm. The wind on my face. The sounds of birdsong. The sight of a flower blooming, etc.
