Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi all, this is my second post this week which quite rare for me. I've been stuck in this anxiety/panic cycle that seems to be more extra than usual. I do find reaching out and writing it out here helps. Lately I find that I am unable to turn down my thoughts. Naturally, they are negative and intrusive. Some examples are: Why are you feeling this way? When will this feeling go away? You're completely safe so why can't you enjoy yourself? Uh-oh! My chest feels tight, when will it end?? I could go on with some others but I think you get the idea. I like to think of my anxious thoughts and physical responses as a little dark cloud just following me around. I do not do breathing exercises as it triggers thoughts of not being able to take my next breath. Strange, I know! I'm looking into getting an updated evaluation from my psychiatrist & seeking out a therapist who specializes with panic/anxiety. I also made an appointment with my heart doctor as I have a heart condition that I get a yearly checkup on. I feel like I'm being proactive but there is a lack of joy, peace, and relaxation in my life at this time. I am unable to face the day(s) and I'm hoping to share this so no one feels like they are alone in the anxiety battle.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

sigh. . . just call me the gloomy doomer. . .
however proactively i manage my anxiety, some days/phases are still easier than others. it's good to have a safe place to vent the extra anxieties on the hard days. i'm glad you felt safe doing so here.
steadying support while you weather the storm.
Talking yourself down only works so much. Its a constant battle of stopping those thoughts. Do you have hobbies you like? Or anything that brings you joy you can focus on? I also find cheesey movies help me.
Distract your usual pattern and instead of 'thinking', 'do thinking'. Pick a task and focus completely on the task and then praise yourself for the work.
For me, I shifted my focus to seeing this as something that I will live with, maybe forever, and just trying to be patient w the promise rather than struggle in the monents. Ive just accepted that I WILL struggle in some of the moments and thats going to be okay.
The biggest hurdle for me initially was not understanding how much mental work and challenge it would be to do this daily. I thought I could read some books, listen to a counselor, pray and it would all just go away soon. Once I came to grips with reality, and then accepted it for what it is, my steps and solutions had higher percentage of success.
Here's to a new week with positive vibes heading your way.
I do well on a daily basis, however, change that and drive far… I’m doomed.
Tried all the meds and nothing works. Xanax prn might but nobody will prescribe and I don’t want to become addicted to it.
On a good note…..Have you ever drove somewhere and you are talking with someone on the phone and you can’t believe you got to where you were going? It’s even hard to remember?
Could this be the key?
