Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hello Everyone
I am new to joining a group experience.
My wife of 20 years filed for prosa Divorce last week and is moving at warp speed to get our marriage ended.
we have had problems but both chose to ignore. Mine binge drinking once a weekend and Her a form of depression.
There never has been any type of abuse no legal issues and on the most part we got along good up until a week ago. I hurt her with my drinking over the years and have been in denial about alcoholism. I have sought help for my drinking and enrolled in a program.
I love my wife and realize now the damage drinking has caused. I am just broken inside. I do not want a divorce. I am giving her space and have left the house for over a week already I do have to go back and live in spare room. I have tried to talk to her but all she wants to talk about is how to split everything up and divorce. She refuses to talk about our marriage. She refuses to even consider any counciling.
everything I read says give space and time.
Looking for advise I'm hurting so bad inside. I've cried so much this last week.
I hope to share more with this group. I was not sure how to start.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

No change on home front. Feel the pain still everyday.
It took time and a willingness to change. I applaud you for the 60 days and wish you 60000 morw
I knew a guy recently that went to the hospital for being so drunk, he almost died from it. They let him out of the hospital the next day, after cleaning him up and instead of going straight home, he stops at the store to buy a bottle of vodka. That's the grip that alcohol has on our minds. We know it will ultimately kill us but we keep doing it over and over again! That's the definition of insanity!
So if you are two months sober, that's a huge accomplishment! Give yourself a pat on the back.
Don't worry about the home front. Put it in the Hands of your Higher Power and remember this Prayer and say it often:
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.
God Bless
Very happy with this. Anyone ever hear of this naked mind? I read the book and now joined the challenge and group.
Divorce still same as I have been working on me and my sobriety along with health ( lost 45 lbs so far) in good way.
Things have gotten worse with her. Lawyers now involved and 0 contact.
So glad to hear, yes - Naked Mind is apparently very good, I have it downloaded on my computer but yet to read it - another one of the 20 books I need to read :)
You sound like you are in a much better place both mentally and physically, and that makes everyone in this group so happy.
Be careful of the sugar cravings that will hit, everyone warned me and I just laughed, until I got them.
(I think your post has had the most responses in the entire time I have been in this group)
Divorce getting close to final and getting uglier daily
