Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
I've been thinking about this a lot. You don't mention whether the doctor was very concerned about the drop in plates and neuts. Platelets are notoriously fickle and my doctor always is more interested in the lymphocytes, the so-called natural killer cells. Apparently they are the ones that do the heavy lifting in the GVL effect. And the chimerism results are encouraging. So there appears to have been some progress. Hang in there, stay determined. We're all pulling for you.
Lou
I am very happy about Tony's chimerism. I agree with Lou about the fickleness of platelets. I have done some reading about the gemtuzamab ozogamicin. It seems to be a helpful adjunct to therapy, but as you know, it was voluntarily taken off the market by Pfizer due to the side effect profile. I can see why you are on the fence with this. What is Tony's doctor's experience with Mylotarg??
Always thinking of you.
Cliff
I ask for prayers every week from my congregation of over 3000+ for all those fighting AML and routinely ask specifically for your family. I routinely receive a note back but have yet to share them with you so today I am hoping to lift your spirits and increase your faith with this note received today:

Subject: We are praying
Dear Julie,
We wanted to let you know we are praying for healing for Tony. Asking God to give him and his family strength and bless them with peace during this time. Psalm 29:11
Lets keep praying and watch God move in a mighty way!
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
Blessings,
Washington Heights Staff
I do not share this thinking it will minimize your questions regarding why, I have them too. I simply offer it to let you know how much I care, How I think of your precious family daily and how my family prays for you daily. And to share that my amazing congregation is praying as well. Almighty God loves you and so do I!!!!
Blessings,
Julie
We're still Coming up with the plan now, but looks like admit Fri or Sat
My heart is so heavy. Please know I'm praying, my family is praying, my church is praying, my small group is praying, and my women's prayer circle is praying for Tony and your family.
Love you
Julie
Please pray for a smooth course and for this to knock the F out of his leukemia once and for all
You have my prayers for a very smooth boring salvage chemo and the complete obliteration of cancer from Tony's body. I will be sure to add these details to all those praying for you here in Utah.
Xoxo

Picking tony up from Hospital right now
We are about 10 days post the finishing of CLAG (plus 5 days of Aza preceding) he's been a 0 anc for almost the whole time, it dropped very quickly
We've had a ton of trouble with his Picc line and his platelets got down to 5 so he had active nosebleeds and blood coming outbid the Picc
So far 2 platelets transfusions, no reds yet but will need by tomorrow I bet.
He's had a highly variable temperature since Monday. His norm is 97.9 but we find by 3 pm he's up to mid 99's, and then comes back down to 98.6, but gets up to 100.2-5 by 3 am but it doesn't stay there, it just goes up and down from 100.4-99 all night, leaving us very sleep deprived (constantly checking for fever)
Called Doc last night and she had him take 2 Tylenol and see what temp did in an hour, if was a true infection it would've spiked through the tylonol. It stayed down.
He has developed larger red pimple looking sores on his face, legs, back and other areas. Team didn't say much about them but just watching it
Most concerning though is over the last 3 days he has developed headaches and now has significant pain in his right jaw, perhaps sinus cavity(?) and has a mild constant clear nose drainage. I'm pushing for imaging of his head tomorrow bc I'm terrified after reading about Lala's Dad sinus fungal infection post CLAG.
I am asking for all the prayers we can get my friends, we've been through so much these past 3 years, I'm praying for healing of body, mind and spirit
Love
Lea&Tony
