Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Please pray for clean results and that we can continue on with this outpatient chemo/DLI plan

His Dr seemed positive (cautiously) even though his marrow is hypocellular (not a lot of cells compared to his age group) they saw a lot of reds and platelets. There's not a lot of overt disease causing the counts to stay low, blasts are 2%.
His chemo nurse right now is a stitch-she sensed Tony's spirit is down and said-"this is not a relapse, it's just a change in the program"
It does sound promising. The FISH (in situ hybridization) test is definitely going to provide important information, and I am praying. I think the 2% blasts and hypocellularity are good signs that the treatment is having the desired effect. Of course, I will be praying for you and Tony, but I think things sound as if they are going in the right direction.

My daughter and I just prayed for your family. A specific prayer for a great FISH result so the current chemo can continue. I have a friend whose SIL relapsed five years after SCT with the plan to do DLI. Her MUD donor cells were not stored properly so they had to go back to the donor to ask for a second donation. He was very accomi accommodatiNguyen and she is doing well.
How are you and baby P?
XOXO

I'm so glad to hear the leukemia % has dropped by half! That's great. Glad to hear Tony's ANC is finally up too. Has he had another chimerism test since the DLI? I know the results on those take much longer to come back... but if the leukemia cells have dropped and there is some possible gvh, I expect the chimerism is becoming more donor. I am praying hard that the second DLI pushes that chimerism back up to 100% donor.
How are you holding up? I'm thinking about and praying for you, Tony, Izzy and the baby every day.

I just read your post. I am very encouraged by the results. I am happy.
