  I forgot to ask in my last post if anyone else gets palpitations while taking Carbamazepine. I have had the Holter monitor and apparently my heart rate varies and the doctor said it skips a beat. I don't seem to notice it when I am off the drug.

  Canker sore on tongue- trigger for TN?

  I have had TN for about 10 years with remissions of various lengths. I had just gone off meds. A month later I had a canker sore on the tongue and the shocks started again once that was healed.I have read quite a bit on TN but have not seen where anyone else has their episodes start in the tongue. Shocks are now triggered by eating, talking and brushing my teeth. I wonder if anyone else has had this experience. Now I also feel nauseous after taking Carbamazepine.

  I have been back on medication for TN for over a month now. I had to increase the dosage to one I had never had before, however that has done little to stop the shocks especially on eating and sometimes talking. I started having to chew only on the other side and now I find that jaw is extremely painful and I can barely move my mouth. Has anyone else experienced this? It is so frustrating to have added yet another problem.

  Does anyone else experience long periods without attacks and then they suddenly re-appear? I wish I had some idea as to the triggers if there are any but my episodes have always started in the early months of the year, mostly around March. I now go on Carbamazepine as soon as I get symptoms which are shocks in the mouth/tongue when eating, brushing teeth, drying face and soreness around the nose on the same side.
