I have stage 3 copd. A mixture of both emphysema and bronchitis. I was diagnosed in an ER first in Feb 2009 by an ER resident who fillipantly said that I had copd and I needed to quit smoking. He sent me home with antibiotics and predisone and inhalers and as soo as I felt \"cured\" I took it to mean that I had a little longer I could smoke. I had a very bad attack 17 months ago and I was admitted to a hospital for a week. During that week I quit a 37+ year cigarette habit. I still miss the cigs but I know to smoke again would surely mean death. I have had asthma and allergies my entire life and I received allergy shots just about my entire childhood. I was born and raised in Galveston on the gulf of mexico so when I moved to central Texas 10 years ago I began battling new allergies and for about the past 3 years I have felt as though I was actually drowning and dying from the mucos. In May of 2013 I began allergy shots twice a week again and the difference is remarkable. I still can barely cross a room without getting winded but at least I\'m not drowning like I was.
