discrimination because of my disease!

Hi EVERYONE!!!!

I'm borring a friend's internet so I figured I'd try once again to get into this site....and this time I made it!

A few months back I told all of my friends that I was going to move my severely disabled 40 yr. old daughter (cerebral palsy) out of the deplorable group home where she has lived the past 3 years and into an apartment with me.  I realized that I would need help with dressing her and bathing her but I also know that she is entitled to provider services for her personal needs so I figured we could manage together.  I really want to spend what time I have left trying to help her get health back and lose some weight.

The company that owns the home (D&S Residential Services) and her very lazy MHMRDD caseworker contacted an advocacy attorney to block my moving her calling me "unfit because of my health problems" and that I was moving my daughter against her wishes.  After speaking with this attorney and after she called my daughter and Carol told her in no uncertain terms that she wanted to move in with me this consumer rights attorney DROPPED the case opened by these people and now says that she will represent Carol and me to make this move posible.

Here I have already moved to a large completely accessable apartment with a roll in shower and emergency call buttons and these people are trying to ruin everything.  These people are not doing this because they love my girl but for MONEY!  My daughter's high need level of care pays them several thousand a month between her SSI and HCS funding.  In the 3 years she has been there staff has stolen and used her debit card, got caught cussing her and telling her she is stupid, physically abused her, medically neglected her and dropped her from the hoyer lift.

To anyone else who has a loved one that they need some help caring for I'm asking you NOT to ever place them into the system because if you do you and your family might have a helluva time getting them out.

Sorry you are having such a hard experience, but it seems that the Attorney sees the situation and hopefully you will sue the facility and report them to your state agency and I wish you and your daughter well.
Hugs,
