  Hello, following an earlier post, I still have no clear diagnosis, but having seen my neurologist a year ago, he has suggested that I trial mestinon after having a few more tests.  This was after not being able to speak, swallow or breath very well after a recent foot operation.  Currently having very bad breathing problems and speech is bottoming out at work every day, swallowing also pretty bad in the evenings.   Hello, after EMG results showed a pre ganglionic loss of nerve signal to shoulder muscles and hand, I wondered if it were really MG and not just a spinal problem after an accident. Bloods were normal.   Went for the results of my EMG in London last week - definitely not myasthenia but it seems that I have had a brachial plexus injury all along. I did have an accident in 2011.  Haven't been sent the report yet but the neurologist summarised that I have loss of signal coming from C5/6 nerve root (pre-ganglionic he called it aka off nerve root from the spinal cord).  Loss of signal to moderate degree in shoulder, neck and hand all on the right side. Fully explains why I have weakness, gagging,...

  Okay, the first blood test came back negative which threw me- not incidentally done by my current neurologist.  Apparently I was tested for the acetycholine one and not the muSK. I don't understand why both weren't done at the same time but anyways I found the neurologist rude, unhelpful and dismissive, hence didn't want to see him again.   Just been told that my foot operation designated for next Tuesday has been cancelled until I have a definite yes or no to Myasthenia.  Frustrating really as I had the blood tests done three weeks ago and still nothing at all back and they couldn't find anything on the hospital database.  EMG studies are scheduled for the 9th of December in London. What differences would there be to a general anasthetic if I test positive? My foot is a pain and needs to be repaired.
