Went for the results of my EMG in London last week - definitely not myasthenia but it seems that I have had a brachial plexus injury all along. I did have an accident in 2011.  Haven't been sent the report yet but the neurologist summarised that I have loss of signal coming from C5/6 nerve root (pre-ganglionic he called it aka off nerve root from the spinal cord).  Loss of signal to moderate degree in shoulder, neck and hand all on the right side. Fully explains why I have weakness, gagging, swallowing problems, loss of voice and also cannot hold my head up adequately. The neurologist was apologetic but I said not to be sorry as it was everyone else that got it wrong from the word go - he got further than anyone else.  He has offered for me to go to the pain clinic up in London. However, the sad thing is that the opportunity for any real improvement is probably missed now as more than five years has elapsed since the original injury. Also on the NHS they will only do nerve grafts if there is no movement in the injury at all.  I cannot tell you what hell I have been in since the original event. For years I was told it was all in my head or that I was making a fuss.  Also the original nerve conduction tests that I had done locally were the wrong ones.  Looking on the internet I realise now that the orthopaedic examinations I had were inadequate.  Don't quite know what to say other than I am relieved that I have got to the bottom of the mystery. Thank you all for the support you have given me.  Guess I distribute the findings to my local hospital now so that I'm treated like a loony no longer.
