Although it is 5 years, there is always some room for improvement when it is known what is wrong. My wife has some nerve damage in her spine too that leaves one side weaker, some chronic pain, difficulty waking etc;, but with physical therapy and occupational therapy her pain is managed pretty much, and she uses walking aides and has decided that she can participate in life again reasonably at the lower level. Sort of an attitude adjustment along with support. I would be optimistic
