  My father is an alcoholic. He's also a winemaker--soon to retire--and was the only income source for our family, growing up.He's a quiet reserved man who even when sober didn't give me or my sister much attention, especially once we entered our teen years.He was never a wildy volatile drunk like many others dealt with, but he was emotionally and verbally abusive all into my chilidhood.   My boyfriend was recently diagnosed with HH and he's really struggling with it.After nearly a decade of suffering tremendous adominal pain, and operating on 0-4 hours of sleep on account of it, he finally has an answer. To him, it's hardly something to celebrate and I can certainly understand that. The fact that it's incurable has him really bogged down and it's only exacerbating his already life-sucking, constant symptoms.   Hi everyone,My boyfriend and I were so tight. We talked of dreams, a home, a family, a future. He asked me to move closer and I did.Then he was diagnosed with a disease--it's not a death sentence but he does have to live with it for the rest of his life. Right now, he's overwhelmed; the symptoms can be agonizing and when they are, he wants to be alone.He's in a dark place and so am I. Suddently I don't know him anymore.
