Retired. Have had R.C.C. Full right nephrectomy and open heart surgery in 2006. Partial left nephrectomy in 2007. Suspicious mass on remaining kidney and something showing at base of right lung. Further tests being done Oct. 12th at which time a plan of action will be decided upon. The cancer has returned and will be monitored for activity. All ok until April of 2012. Lung mets show activity as well as mass on kidney. Kidney biopsy showed malignant as we have thought all along. Have started oral chemo, Sutent, 2 wks. on 1 wk. off. Other than fatigue and a couple of mouth sores I have tolerated it relatively well. My July 2012 CT and MRI show that the lung mets are shrinking and there\'s no further growth on the kidney. 3 weeks ago I have had to start iron and Procrit infusions every two weeks because of blood work results (anemia) Next month, Oct. 16th, is my next CT and MRI. I pray that there is more shrinkage.Updated: Oct.20, 2013 - CT and MRI last week showed mass stable and something one lung (last time nothing showed either lung) but it was not definitive enough to say what it was. Had to change to an Oncologist closer to home. It took a while but I am getting more comfortable with him. Had to take one month off Sutent to give body a rest and just went back on it 2 days ago. Instead of Procrit shots I get something called Aranesp. I\'ve not had an iron infusion since I changed doctors but I had to go to the hospital for something else and the blood work concerned the doctor. Contacted Oncologist and he ordered 2 transfusions. Brought up hemoglobin and white cell count. Am very fortunate side effects are not worse. Being tired all the time and my sore mouth are the worst ones but I can tolerate them.
