I am new to this group, I have a son that has had special educations all his life and I have went back and fourth with schools over his education, IEP, behavior plans and in the end they graduated him 3 months early with a 3.5 reading grade level. And within a month he went from the school house to the jail house. He will soon be out of prison where he spent the majority of time in solitary because it was cheaper than dealing with mental health issues. When you talk to my son he is happy go lucky. He doesn't retain things and does things without thinking about the consequences. I am afraid he is going to be released and the last 3.5 years in prison want even be a memory. He is always happy I think that helped him get through solitary. But as a parent I feel I let him down and I am looking for any information or programs I can get him into where he can learn to be independent.
