Hi All,

Once in awhile, after an influx of a lot of newcomers, it's helpful to do a 'roll call' to help us get to know each other a little better. Don't share any information too personal, but a few facts to help us get acquainted is good. I'll start:

I'm Cliffskat/Martha. I lost Cliff, my husband of 30 years, in November 2007. He died of a heart attack with no warning at 55. I was 50, and in moments my world as I knew it ended. I joined DS because there were no support groups I could get to in my area. Being here helped me, so I stayed on, and in 2011 became a group Community Leader. I met my second husband Acuriousfish/Mark, here in this group (he's a widower and CL, too). I moved to England, so am an ex-pat and dual American-Brit now. Life doesn't look anything like it used to, but it's good. I'm also a Mom to two beautiful adult autistic sons.

I’m nell79/Denise Charlie and I grew up together, best friends, high school sweethearts then married for 36 years. He was diagnosed 4 years ago, at age 52 with prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones (stage4) and passed away on 11/07/2017. We have two beautiful daughters married to great guys that have blessed us with three prescious perfect granddaughters. Our family has been amazing thru this horrific journey, I have no clue where I’d be without them. I miss my charlie so damn much some days it is just impossible to function. This group is a place I have come where everybody knows your pain. And it helps.

I'm Honey01409/Andrea , After 21 yrs together my Tom passed away from cancer. Its been 3 yrs. and I still miss him every day. This site has helped me many times, and I have met many caring people who know just how I feel. I have an adult daughter and two beautiful granddaughters. I live in Ohio. Thanks to every one for being there. Andrea

I'm Rick. I lost my wife Glenda to colorectal cancer 12 1/2 weeks ago after a 15 month battle. We were married 43 years. If death took me this very second I would be thankful, but would regret the pain it would cause my two sons.

I'm Eddie. Lost my love to congestive heart failure in Aug 2015 after 8.5 years together. The real down days are behind me, but finding ways to strive in this new identify and life.

I'm jdhayes/Jenny. I lost my love 10/29/2016....15 months of heart ache and grief. We only got to spend 6 1/2 years together. I too came on here because there is not a grief support near for me to attend. I am still finding my way and I am thankful for this group and knowing that I am not alone in this journey. ((Hugs)) to all.

I am bayoured/Angela. I lost my very soul on 11/09/2017. I have known him my entire life since I was 4. He had a heart attack on 11/06/2017 ,stents placed and being discharged the morning he passed away. Dr's don't know what happened! I am trying so hard but the questions keep going thru my mind. I searched for this group because I am alone with no children . I desperately need to know that the horrible pain will ease up. Thankful that this group is here.

I'm denverkim/Kim. I lost my husband of 5 1/2 years on 11/25/17. He was sick for 20 days with what turned out to be pancreatic cancer, he was 49. We were together 20 years, married for 5 1/2 years. I'm not sure I've even had a chance to process the diagnosis, let alone the fact that he's gone. In-person and online support groups are helping me get through each day.

I'm Jenny and I lost my best friend/partner of over 20 years to a sudden heart attack 02/11/14 (coming up to four years). I am still trying to find my way and I think because I had to put my almost 17 year old cat to sleep three months before Mike died suddenly I am having a hard time moving forward. This group has saved my sanity many times knowing that I am not alone in the way I am feeling. I find safety in sticking to a daily routine and think I may be inching along ever so slowly!

I was married for 42 years, just turned 63. my husband died 34 months ago.
I have taken many absences from this support group. but it is hard "fitting in" as a widow in a tiny rural town, where I was always married to him, now that he is gone. It really seems to have changed my identity, but I don't know how to change my heart & mind.
I was doing better for a while recently, but this war is excruciatingly difficult.

I’m Maria and I lost my beloved husband 3 years ago this coming Monday. He was perfectly fine and took care of himself. We ate healthy, exercised, took aspirin, fish oil, and had a yearly physical. One day he went to work and while he was on a treadmill at the company gym, he collapsed and nothing saved him. He was only 58 yrs old. I miss him terribly. Thank you all for sharing. It has helped me get thru the worst time of my life.

I'm George. I lost Mary 4 weeks ago. This grief is unbearable. It is debilitating. Nothing else seems important. I'm trying to be a good dad, a good grandfather, a good boss. But nothing seems important.
I had a first marriage of 30 years when my first wife asked me for a divorce. Six months later I met Mary on line. We dated for two years and got married in 2014. By the time we got married, Mary was having some strange pains that doctors couldn't figure out. Six months after our wedding Mary had to quit her work and six months after that they finally determined she had a rare neurological disorder that eventually took her life at age 55.
You would think that knowing her "just 5 1/2 years" would make this easier. Well, maybe it could even be worse but I can't imagine how.
