Natural anti-depressant/anxiety

I found out from my new insurance company today that my Lexapro will cost me $463 for a 90 day supply. OUCH! The generic doesn't work for me. I had tried some other kinds in the past with little success so I don't want to be a guinea pig again. I would like any information you all know on any natural anti-depressant/anxiety remedies I can take instead.

I have already removed all offending foods from my diet. I am as active as I can afford to be since I live in a 2 story house and have to go up and down the stairs all day plus help my husband who needs assistance care for things here. I have a very stressful life which I can't change.

I do not know any natural remedies. You can go to the Lexapro web site and it will have a coupon that will help with the price. I go on several of my daughter's medicines web sites and I have found that I got them extremely cheap. She is taking a new muscle relaxer and it would have cost $1590.00 a month. With the coupon that I printed out it only cost me $5.00. That is a huge price difference. I hope you find something that will help.

Oh, I am sorry. I do know a natural remedy, essential oils. You know my brain works a little slow. LOL. I have heard that essential oils can help with many things. Lavender, Frankincense, Wild Orange are known to help depression/anxiety.

My Aussie daughter in law told me about something called Rescue Remedy. Has anyone herd of this or tried it?

Years ago I was on an antidepressant and when I started singing, I kept forgetting to take it. Finally it occurred to me that I had replaced the need for it with something I really enjoyed. I don't go out and sing karaoke much over these past years but I do enjoy online karaoke now and then. Just a thought. I participate in a couple of groups too and that helps. A study group and a community group.

I use Rescue Remedy - I bought the pearls which you put one on your tongue and it dissolves. I only use it if really stressed and it calms me right down. I hope it will continue to meet my needs as love not taking a med! Also, I'm not on any special diet, but eat no junk, more vegetables, fruits, etc., and watch sugar and salt content of everything. And, got to have my daily dose of ice cream! (it makes me happy)

One of my friends has switched from lithium to lithium orotate about 6 months ago & she is doing well on it. Hope you find a solution.

B Complex Vitamins are supposed to be good for stress. I know you can buy them in the U.S. as Stress Mixture that includes Vitamin C. It's "Nature Made." I take it here in Japan - even my neurologist thinks it's a good idea. Not sure if it's helping with the stress or if it's my very minimal dose of Zoloft, but something is.

I was wondering as you live in Japan if Tai Chi was a common practise we have found recently that not only does it help depression but also joint stiffness pain and balance and you can practise the calming techniques whenever and wherever you like

You may be thinking of China/Hong Kong etc, where groups of people do it in parks. In Japan you have to take classes and it's not that widespread. Am trying to find a good class that's close and not too expensive.

Thanks for all of your input. Swanson Vitamins carries the Rescue Remedy so I ordered some and it came yesterday. I will gradually taper off of my Lexapro and try it.

St John's wort is a natural antidepressant
The rescue remedy does work just a bit
but what I take for anxiety is atavan
I have natural remedy books at home if you are really interested message me & I will have him look it up at home
the essential oil lavender helps make sure it is 100% essential oil as some out there are cut with other oils
