So it looks like I've only developed 5 follicles. I'm a little sad but I'm trying to stay positive.

Paris - The basal antral follicle count is the count in the beginning of your menstrual cycle. Usually in a regular cycle you will have some number of basal antral follicles on cycle day 3, and only one will become dominant and ovulate. At my clinic they count those follicles prior to stimulation because it gives them a good idea of how many eggs they can expect to retrieve after stimulating, and because they want to make sure that the BCP suppression is actually working to prevent any one follicle from becoming dominant. If one becomes dominant (a cyst is what they will refer to it as) they will cancel the cycle because with IVF the stimulation they want ALL of the follicles to mature and ready to ovulate for the retrieval. Heather, thanks for the explanation. My clinic did not do that, hmm. Well, nonetheless, I'm on Stim day 7 and just got back from ultrasound number 3. My doctor dropped my Menopur dosage (thank god, that one stung!). But she still thinks retrieval will be on Thursday. Ugh, I just want these eggs out of me already. Gosh I wonder how I'll feel when I have an actual human inside me, lol.

Shazette, don't stress. It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality. I've read so many stories on these forums of women who had 20, 30 even 40 eggs but none were of good quality. I specifically remember a story of a girl who got 38 eggs and only 2 were good enough to transfer. So even though my numbers are looking good I'm not gonna get excited over it because I'm praying for quality, not quantity.

I had to look up buserelin, but its basically the same as Lupron. Both are GnRH agonist, as opposed to the ganirelix which is an antagonist.
It sounds like you are on the long agonist protocol, which is what I was on the first time around. Its the most common protocol. Sorry I geek out on this stuff, I am a scientist.

And again like Paris said its quality not quantity! Did they tell you when your retrieval will be?

Paris - Positive thoughts for your retrieval on Thursday! I just re-read your original post, why so long of a wait between retrieval and transfer? OHSS?

Heather, the reason for the gap is my clinic. I have to do a freeze all because it takes about a week to get the PGD results back and figure out which embies we can transfer. Last cycle, I transferred the following month but this time my clinic doesn't have any availability for a transfer until May. Sucks but I have no choice.

Had another ultrasound today. My follicles still aren't big enough. I have to take more menopur and go back on Wednesday. The doctor thinks the fact that my follicles aren't growimgnquickly might be the reason I haven't gotten pregnant.

Kathleen did you test this morning?

I also had an ultrasound this morning. I had the opposite problem as you Shazzette. Some of my follicles are advancing too fast, so my cycle has been canceled. I will start over with after my next period, so I won't be a February IVF anymore. So 23 wasted follicles, but doc says that the 6 that are going too fast are ruining for the rest of them. I am so bummed.

Shazzette - fingers crossed that the increased dosage works for you!

Heather, sorry to hear that. But remember, everything happens for a reason. Maybe the quality of these eggs weren't so great so God made an excuse for you to try with a new batch. You never know what the bigger plan is. Thinking of you!

Shazette, have you gone back for another ultrasound? Same thing happened with me last time. My doctor increased my dosage mid cycle and I ended up with 8 eggs. Keep us posted!

afm, I have my retrieval tomorrow and I'm so nervous. My right ovary feels like its about to explode (most of my follicles are on the right ovary). God help me!

Ladies I am sorry to say that I got BPN, and since I did not have any frosties, I will have to restart the process, dont really know where to begin or start! BUT I wish all of you ladies baby dust!
