DAgnes, I will be taking the birth control pills until Jan 29 which is next Thursday.
I did long Lupron the first time around, and this time they have me planned to do a micro-flare protocol. I'm not sure what is different really. The protocol looks basically the same as last time, which failed obviously, so I am kind of disgruntled and don't have much hope for this time around.
Heather welcome! Wishing you the luck this time around and hopefully the doctors have a plan for you, maybe they will change some things later? Keep us posted!
I am so sorry that it did not work! Disappointed is not a strong enough word for that. But do not lose hope! There are so many elements to IVF. My friend was in the same spot as you 8 years ago. First didn't work, but the drs didn't change the protocol. The second one worked. Let's hope this will be your story too!!
Kathleen,
This is exciting! How did the shots go?? Did it hurt? Did you do it yourself or asked hubby? Please share about the whole experience!!
Anyone else start?? If not when??
I just did my first shot of buserelin. The needle just felt like a pin prick but the medicine burned when going in. I definitely think I can get used to this.
BTW, Kathleen, my nurse told me to stop taking any supplements once I start stimming. Prenatals, of course, are okay.
My update: I am still on BCP's. I just received my schedule (about freaken time!). I am on an antagonist protocol and will be starting injections on 2/6. I had, yet another, obstacle thrown at me 2 days ago. My clinic called me all excited saying that hubby and I need to rush in for a blood sample that they need to send to my pgd lab. And that there's a chance that the pgd tests won't be ready in time. Hmm, how did they come across this discovery? Because earlier this week, I decided to touch base with the two labs to make sure they both have everything they need from one another. Had I not taken the liberty to do that, they would have never realized this. God knows what would have happened to my cycle. There have been several times that they've dropped the ball. This is a new clinic I'm working with and I'm not feeling comfortable at all :-/
I had my routine blood and ultra sound, yesterday and they said that every thing looks normal and that I dont not have to change my dosage. I am having a hard time giving up coffee! I think I need to just do it, any suggestions?
I was also told that I cannot go to the gym which makes me sad because running is a great de-stresser for me, looking for other alternatives to deal with the hormones and the stress and anxiety of this process. Well keep me posted ladies and I will do the same.!
I would highly recommend giving up the coffee right away though. Even if it's just switching to decaf for a little bit (although decaf still has some caffeine). We go through so much, why not change our lifestyle for a few short months to help us accomplish such a major goal. Trust me, I was a Starbucks addict, but I stopped cold turkey (might have cheated with half a cup of coffee about 6/7 times in the last two months) because it it's going to help increase my chances of better egg quality even by 1% then hell I'm going to do it! None of it is scientifically proven but why take that chance?
This forum has gone quiet. Anybody else start their shots as yet?
Mine are going well. I did the first one and hubby has been doing them ever since. I watch tv while he does it and I hardly feel a thing. Today is my last birth control pill.
I am doing well with my shots, with some side effects. I added Ganirelix three days ago and my retrieval may looks like it will be Sunday (possibly Monday). Yesterday I went to the dr and they said I had 7 follicles. Ive been pretty bloated, boobs KILL me, and started some headaches, also crampy at times. They also upped the Menopur and I am still taking the Follistim. Looking forward to my Retreival! I will keep you guys posted.
Shazzette, the shots are ok, the burning sucks, but all in all was not as bad as I thought, especially when hubby does them! What does your schedule look like as far as retrieval?
I hope all of you are doing well. Nothing new with me so far. I have another week to go before my baseline ultrasound on February 6. That's also the day I start menopur. My retrieval will be somewhere between February 16-18. It still sounds far away but the time seems to be flying.
Where is everyone else in their schedule?
