Nervous for a lot of reasons. Have only been to a church once in a long time. I feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome in churches.

Anthem - you've pin pointed my feeling about church as well - I've just never felt comfortable in one either.

I did read a good way of looking at it a while back. It was a short bit in the book "Travels With Charley" by John Steinbeck. He describes wanting to go to see (paraphrasing here) - a good searing southern sermon - real fire and brimstone kind of stuff.

Not to belittle religion, but he kind of viewed it like a form of entertainment. Somehow this sounded like a fun way to look at it if I ever had to go back.

I believe very strongly in faith and spirituality.
I just don't feel that the church positively influences my journey in that.
I feel that the church is very manmade and man governed. Maybe that's why I feel so uncomfortable. Man has many opinions I don't agree with...

(PS no offense to ANYONE who attends church as my partner attends church regularly. This is just MY personal feelings and how -I- view my personal journey)

I attend church almost every Sunday and I'm not Christian, nor do I believe in the *christian* god or the Christian beliefs. Stbxh is Christian (does not believe in organized religion), one of my sons is Christian but also does not believe in organized religion, the other son is an athiest. I started taking my mom to church when my dad passed away, she was so used to them going together so I kind of fill in for him. I believe in something much bigger than us but not the type of bigger power that Christians and some other religions believe in.

Partner is an initiated Wiccan which I always had an interest in from the time I was early 20s and studied it on and off. I didn't know anyone back then that was Wiccan so I never got into it too much but had that gnawing interest that would never go away. Now that I'm with him, my interest has grown much more, I learn about it through him, I drive him crazy with questions and reading some books he has on it (the ones left that his ex-wife didn't finish burning in the fireplace).


I respect anyone's religion and beleifs (or lack of).

I think it's cool that you take your Mom,leather. For the older generation (especially) i think it was a form of fellowship and a way to connect with your community on a regular basis. Good stuff

I have the BIGGEST bee phobia!!!!!! I left the house I was cleaning in fear. Still shaking. Huge bee!!!! HUGE!!! One of those big noisy black fat bees!!!!! I almost threw up I was so petrified.

sorry, originally read it as a pee phobia, bee phobia makes more sense. I hate bees too.

A friend of mine had a pee phobia. He could never use urinals in the men's room - it would freak him out. Not sure what caused it? He tried to have a sense of humor about it, but you could tell it really bothered him. I felt bad for him about it.

It was probably a carpenter bee. They are huge and super loud.
I had two in my house last week. Still cannot figure out where they came in. I killed one w/ bug spray and caught the other one under a glass so I could look at it and see what it was. It was pretty comical trying to figure out what to do after I had it under the glass! I set it free outside.
