no, these were just tiny ones. i got to them quick. all i needed was a trowel and to loosen it on 4 sides and it popped right up and out. the lilac shrub was in the plastic package. just one little branch poking out. it was all minor stuff. i dont trust my hubs with yard and garden! lol. all he is allowed to do is cut the grass and pick up dog poop! i just wanted to get to it before it started raining. next week i would love to re mulch the front and get a couple lawn chairs to put between everything so i can relax while the kids play out front. the concrete steps dont give me a full view and arent very comfy.

and on a side note, the reason my ear hurts now if because its infected. i called the doc, but they dont believe me its infected. they said its just normal gunk coming out from surgery. i have an appointment tuesday. i just dont think they want to see me until then.

what stage are your lilac blooms ? The stage of the lilac lets you know when to plant other things.. It's called Phenology - learned it all from my grandfather who never went to school. Couldn't read, couldn't write and barely spoke English. But he was a wiz in knowing when to plant what, what it meant when a bird sung, what the clouds meant, etc.

Because of him I have a real love hate thing going with pachysandra. He was a gardener. When I would come home from school and see him sitting in the garage, my first thought was "oh no". It meant that I had to help him tie pachysandra up.
And there was a process to doing it.
You take 3 pieces of pachysandra, hold the leaves in one hand. take the roots in your other hand and lightly wrap them around the base. Make some sort of pull knot so that the roots are pointing down, put the done one in the bushel and pray that when you look in the back of the truck, that he has finished most of the work..

It was not usually the case though. As much as I moaned about doing that work, the hours spent with my grandfather were priceless. He was always one of my biggest fans - though he didn't understand much in the "big world"

Such as, I went to school for design. My first job was designing elevators (yes it had it's ups and downs - lol) but he thought I was an elevator attendant - AND he was proud of what he thought I was doing.

I have been playing MegaMillions and Powerball religiously for the past month or so. I have not gotten one number on any ticket..the odds are NOT in my favor at all.

I would be more likely to hit hit by lightning walking across a busy street on a sunny day to ever win anything in the lottery... Or win anything at all for that matter.
