Healing the Child Within Community Group
This is a safe haven for victims of childhood abuse and their loved ones to share stories, sympathies, and tips for healing. Whether verbal, physical, or sexual in nature, the effects of childhood abuse can be permanently scarring. Together, though, we can find strength and solace in each other.
I'm just starting to look at how this has impacted my life and it's amazing how the patterns are lining up. I figure I've got a few good years left to try and set things on a better course than they have been.
I was married for almost ten years and have two kids. My wife cheated on me and, despite my efforts to save the marriage, we are going through a very nasty divorce. Because of the abuse, sex is a really big deal to me and a big part of my self worth was tied up in it. The infidelity hit me pretty hard.
So somewhere inside me there is a five year old trying to make sense of all this and that's why I joined the group.
I met this man (the pedophile) on the army base at Ft. Dix. I was working on the base when we met. He was retiring after 20 years service.
I have 3 older children and a wonderful Husband who have been supportive, but have a problem discussing the sexual abuse. As a matter of fact I'm here in hopes of understand what my son might be feeling since he refuses to tell me anything about it because he doesn't want me to blame myself. He tried to commit suicide a week after he told the family (the end of May 2011). He is now attending a program in Princeton NJ. It's for men who were sexually abused. It's a two month program, 5 days a week.
I joined another support group, but the children were much younger then my son, and the other mother's main fear was that their children might end up like mine, ouch ! They also didn't seem to understand why my son used drugs, and came across as though the drug use was the reason for the sexual abuse. They just didn't get it.
I called the Prosecutors office to make a report. They entered all the information I gave them into the computer and are waiting until my son is ready to go in and give a statement.
I also started seeing a therapist. I want to be prepared for the day when my son is ready to tell me what happened. He knows the family is behind him and we love him.
I was sexually abused from age 2 until 11, by my uncle, and a friend of the family. I was date raped at 15. I started being fondled and talked to sexually by my stepfather at 14, and this continues today. I hope that this group will be able to help me find a way to stop this. It's not as simple, as it should be.
I admit, I have issues with God, so please, if you write me, don't preach to me.
I have been in and out of the mental health system - diagnosed with depression, anxiety, ptsd, and bipolar. I am also a self mutilator, and don't drink anymore, due to almost dying from it.
I really hope to find people to talk to, ones who understand - because I'm tired of always feeling alone.
I was emotionally, physically, and sexually abused by my mom and dad till i ran away at the age of 15.
About me, I love laughing with my son son and being silly. I love to sing, write, Salsa dance, daydream, be inlove, boating, wakeboarding, snow skiing, traveling, talking with really good friends, and yes going to therapy, lol!
I am a survivor of long term sexual, physical ,and emotional abuse within long term foster care (same continuous family) and rape as an adult. Thankfully, over the years I have managed to overcome / learned to manage many of the issues I have had, through therapy, self belief, and positive thinking. Every now and then my inner child sneaks back out to remind me she needs some tlc, hence why I have joined these forums, In my inbetween times ( when things are going well which is more often than not) I wish to help others.
I have two grown up kids, live with my partner in the English countryside. I adore nature, cooking, social history, reading and gardening.....basically a peaceful life with a good dose of laughter and love thrown in.
