Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
i just had a therapy session and it made me feel worse. it made me feel more alone because the therapist is not my friend. she doesn't even like me. she yawned through the whole session and could barely keep the disdain out of her voice. it just made me feel even more alone. i am so sick of paying people to talk to me who can't stand me. i am seriously considering ending my life to end this nightmare. it's not going to get any better. i'm looking at growing old alone and dealing with serious depression and lonliness. i don't deserve that. I am a decent person. I don't deserve that purgatory. and if the only way to prevent it is to take my life i think i should seriously consider it. not as something that is self destructive but something that is merciful.
i went to my doctor yesterday and he made me feel worse, wouldn't talk to me at all, not one word about my depression. just told me to take drugs. the reason i came to the appointment was depression and he literally did not say one word about it, did not ask me how I was or what was going on or anything just take this pill. wow.
I'm too tired and beat to look for new professionals. Besides it's always the same story. these are actually better than the last few i have had.
i need some peace and comfort. if that be in the arms of death, so be it.
having said that, i don't think i have the guts to do it unfortunately so if someone is concerned, don't be. i probably won't and if I did, i think if would be a blessing for me.
I watched some guy kill himself by jumping off a bridge once. I thought i would feel awful but as he hit the water I felt this feeling of release and euphoria for him. not sadistic or anything, just this geniune feeling of joy for him. I"m sorry to bum people out here. i need a place to be myself. i think that's important to have a place to talk about how we really feel, not all the fake bullshit we have to do all day.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

I was extremely depressed when I was younger, and wanted suicide. I didn't have the guts to do it either. Then I thought of the possibility of it failing and it totally made me change my mind.
Sounds like you need a few gentle hugs, someone to tell you it's going to be okay. I hope you find someone gentle to talk to. There are some gentle and kind people out there. Just keep looking, you will find one, and please---no more talking of Suicide!! It's not as you describe the jumping off the bridge person's feelings.
I even got up the courage to tell him that I am feeling suicidal -- he asked if I was at this moment? I said no. He asked if I had a time frame - I said kind of a month of two. He just started to talk about something else. I told him I needed to talk about what was going on right now -- he interrupted me every time I said what I wanted to talk about and brought it back to my parents.
Then at the end of the session he said oh I might need to check myself perhaps I am projecting my issues with my dad on you.
Like WTH. So I hear you and I am sorry it really does suck.
I agree with you. We need to say what we are truly feeling and not constantly be shoving it down to please others. I hope you find inner strength somewhere to get yourself through this. My heart goes out to you.
The place i go for therapy is a joke . The one good therapist they had ended up leaving due to her internship ending .
I pray you'll feel more hopeful.
I have had a psychiatrist and also a doctor both fall asleep during my visit! Literally fall asleep in the middle of it. I didn't know what to do.... should I walk out?? Go get help for them? Call 911? Turns out, they had some medical condition going on that made them sleepy. But yeah, at first I took it personally. I do still see both of them, by the way.
Doctors and therapists are not our friends. If they acted friendly, they would get in trouble for not being professional enough.
You said your doctor mentioned the medications. Have you been taking your anti depressants? Because I think you should.
I also agree about looking for a new therapist. I know it's a pain to do... I went through 4 therapists in 20 years before I found a good one. They are not all a good match.
Please know that your life is worth living and that better days will be coming. I'm not just saying that either. Do you keep a journal? I think writing things out would be helpful.
Best wishes to you.
My therapist did say something yesterday that I thought was interesting. We all know going outside can be helpful for mood but she said try for a minimum of 20 minutes outside time per day. I am going to try to do that but that kind of thing is just a band-aid.
I think we are led to believe that life is something that could or should be wonderful and meaningful and so forth but I wonder whether that is setting the bar too high. I think life often is not as great and we think it should be and that's actually normal.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. I am pretty bad now. Last night I felt so alone and empty I felt like I was going to start hearing voices. I kept searching my mind for a comforting thought or fantasy and for the life of me I could not come up with anything. That scared me. Usually I can trick myself somehow into calming down. The hearing voices happened to me once a long time ago. My therapist at the time said that can happen if you get very depressed. I'm going to go out and walk around my backyard for awhile. there is a stray cat out there that i started feeding. that gives me a little feeling of connection. that maybe that poor little creature needs me.
thank you all for reaching out to me.
