Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I've started searching for a new job, but I really don't want to start again. I've worked at a certain law office for about 4 years. The managers haven't changed but the turnover rate for the associates has been about 95% in the last 4 years!!! We get new clerks each semester, which is great. The cases are extremely stressful. The paralegal and office manager are very toxic (unorganized, gossips, and overall brings the organization down with their negative attitudes. I feel the managers tolerate these two women because they have seen high attrition and don't want to see people with over 10 years at the company leave). It would be nice if I can last another 5 years but not sure I can, so I asked AI how to thrive in a toxic workplace:
Strategies to Thrive in a Toxic Work Environment
Focus on Self-Care
- Prioritize Your Well-Being: Engage in activities that recharge you, such as exercise, meditation, or hobbies.
- Establish a Routine: Create a daily schedule that includes time for self-care practices to maintain balance.
- Seek Support: Connect with friends, family, or a coach who can provide encouragement and perspective.
Set Boundaries
- Define Your Limits: Clearly communicate what is acceptable and what is not in your interactions with colleagues.
- Learn to Say No: Protect your time and energy by declining additional responsibilities that may overwhelm you.
- Create a Safe Space: Designate a physical or mental space where you can retreat to recharge when needed.
Align with Your Values
- Identify Core Values: Reflect on what matters most to you in your work and life.
- Seek Meaningful Work: Engage in tasks that resonate with your values, even if they are small.
- Stay True to Yourself: Make decisions that align with your beliefs, which can help you feel more grounded.
Build Resilience
- Practice Mindfulness: Stay present and aware of your thoughts and feelings to manage stress effectively.
- Develop a Positive Mindset: Challenge negative thoughts and focus on solutions rather than problems.
- Learn from Challenges: View difficult situations as opportunities for growth and learning.
Engage in Clarity Practices
- Reflect Regularly: Take time to assess your feelings about your work environment and identify areas for improvement.
- Set Clear Goals: Establish short-term and long-term objectives to maintain focus and motivation.
- Document Your Experiences: Keep a journal to track your thoughts and feelings, which can help clarify your situation.
By implementing these strategies, you can create a more supportive environment for yourself, even in a toxic workplace.

This weekend is for my yard work and for me. My weeds are probably waist high at this point. My friend Lisa and I are working out again at Planet Fitness this afternoon. Lord knows I need to work out. I did get extra steps in at work this past week. It's a beautiful day today. I almost crossed paths with my so-called best friend at work this week. I was telling my brother stuff...

I filed for assistance with the State of NJ in 2024 and 2025 and was approved within 60 days and it helped greatly. I applied again on May 10th. I called when I didn't hear anything for 60 days. I was told it could take 90 days. I called when I didn't hear anything after 90 days. I was told that my application was on the manager's desk, along with 100 applications. I was also put on a...
