you are probably asking yourself why did these ones make it and not others. you need to realize that there are probably 100s of entries. To have what you have published is an accomplishment. You should shout it from the mountaintops.

Congrats to you. You will get more published at a later date. It just takes time and patience

This is great and such an accomplishment! Like Angeleyes said, there were no telling how many entries were submitted and denied and you got 2 poems and a short story that are going to be published!

Depression sucks and it has a way of robbing of us feeling a lot of emotions, happiness included. Please be proud of yourself. I know I sure am.

I think that you must be extra CREATIVE,, since depression seems to rob so many of us of creativity. But you got past that and wrote not 1 , not 2 but 3 items that were published! WAY TO GO!

Congratulations. I too fail to feel any happiness, the people I work with laugh a lot and talk about small unimportant things and seem to enjoy life so much. Can make me feel worse about myself, you know?

A lot of highly successful artists, writers, actors, musicians, even with their vast fame and fortune, still grapple with their own personal demons. You're in good company, Diane! Congratulations on getting your poetry published!

Wow! You have my cheers for you new title, "published author," Way to go! I had a similar reaction when my poem was published in our college poetry book. Instead of celebrating the poem that was chosen, I focused on the ones that didn't get chosen. I missed out on the joy because of it.

In Love With Another

I'm afraid I'm in love with another
My husband does not seem to mind
I admit I'm in love with another
He is cute and very kind

I confess I'm in love with another
Deny it to no avail
My heart, it belongs to another
He has whiskers and a tail

This is the 2nd poem. I will find a copy of the short story.

Max, the black cat

There once was a black cat named Max.
In manners he was very lax.
He made children scream
when on Halloween
he jumped out from under a fax.

He tugged at the sheets of a ghost.
He was not a very good host.
He made the clown cry
and the witch yelled "Oh my!"
as he sharpened his claws on a post.

The candy he tossed to the floor.
And ran when they knocked on the door.
He did not want out,
but he did make them shout.
especially the kids under four.

The kids left with all of their loot.
To scold Max the point was just moot.
Cuz he jumped in my lap,
took a ten minute nap,
and I told him "good thing you're so cute!"
