My concern is that it did not do my emotional well being any good at all. I was truly shocked - and it made me retreat back into a very scared place that I had not gone to in a very long time.

Now maybe it's just me and my unstable mind - I don't know - but it has caused some pretty serious issues for people and that's too bad.

I think they do need to re-think this matter.

I agree as well. I was reported before as well and they didn't tell me what happened exactly, although they gave a strong hint as to why I was reported. At the time, it was my fault, in fact so I deserved the warning.

But I do think it's unfair that DS doesn't tell you why you were warned or banned. DS is a complicated site that needs to be uncomplicated, especially for people with depression, bi-polar, etc...

Agree as well. Had a prob with a member who reported me for every post. Tried very, very hard not to break any of the TOS rules. But got suspended anyway.
Now how do I know what the breaking point was? Was it just cuz she was complaining about me constantly? Otherwise, I'm clueless.
In any case, as Linda said, it brings back childhood memories of being falsely accused just because I was the oldest, in my case that is.
And Kid is right...suspicions go bonkers over a banning that is not understood. Happening now on my board...happens every time someone gets suspended or banned. All the wrong people get blamed. Dissention takes off like crazy and everyone is ready for a fight...then more people get banned all due to ds not explaining the problem in the first place.
This is only the zillionth time that DS was told this was a major problem.

You are 100% right, i also have seen this happen, and what is sad is the person who put the ban or the letters to get the person ban, is originally the person who is the problem . I think they should tell us and we should have a right to object or give your side of the problem, they should have CL's on sites so they can make some sense of these situations, they may not know everything but they know a bit about it. I think some people like to stir it up, and they start it and it can hurt alot of people who never had a problem before have a problem

Wow....I agree with what everyone has said here:):) A person that is getting a warning letter or getting banned NEEDS to know why.!!

I am also beginning to think that people should NOT be banned for LIfe. I mean............this is suppose to be a "Support" sight and people come here for all kinds of support........and when they get banned (especially when the reason isn't clear).........they just get mad and often come back as trolls. It becomes a game to them (a way to vent their anger)...and turns out to be worse for the site then if DS had just sent them a letter in the first place and said something like ......"Your post # 37 on thread titled "Joe Blow" in the Support group is in violation of our TOS. Please refrain from making posts like this in the future....and include a copy of the post in the letter.

Should be no misunderstanding there!! Now they have the "facts" for the warning letter and there should be no questions.and IF there is....DS should answer them.

DS is NOT God..........and offers a Support Site.....but appears to decide just Who they will support.

Imagine going to a NA or AA meeting and falling off the wagon and being told you can NEVER come back??? Ya had a drink of Hat's Hooch............and now you are banned for any kind of support here for the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!!

Back in 1997 when I first got involved in Hep C, I was on an AOL Hep C support group. I had just got a baby Pug dog that was a little terror. We named him "Little Shit" (cause that what he was - LOL)

Well.....Little Shit got Parvo:(:( We thought we were gonna lose him...but he survived:) Anyway, I got an outpouring of support and best wishes from all the member of the board.....everyone was talking about "Little Shit".

One day I got a warning letter from AOL board leader............clearly telling me that saying the name "Little Shit" was against TOS ( It was considered cussing). Now it seems pretty crazy, not just to me, but to the board leader as well...but someone had complained and it was in the rules.

So........I renamed Little Shit. His new name became Tuff-E-Nuff. I clearly knew the problem, changed the error of my ways and lived happily ever after.

Had they just zapped me from that site with no explanation, I might have sicked Little Shit on them.......LOL.

Yes I have been warned twice - some years apart.
One was probably deserved but the second one was just a person who kept reporting everyone she didn't like (which was just about everyone) on the board. Several of us got warned and a coupe got banned even though it was a similar situation to the Manny was talking about. Actually I think the first one might be the one she is referring to - LOL.
But I would have liked to have known why and everyone accused of a "crime" is entitled to their day in court so why can't we be given that option on DS?

debbear, that is a great idea to give the person the post that they wrote on.
If a person is ban they can come back on right just sign up a new account, so really if they can do this nobody is ever really ban just the name that they had before would be ban.

Manny a friend of mine was banned for two weeks and warned that if she made another account and returned in that time she would be banned for life.
A person DID make another account after being banned and ended up being banned for life, now if she returns and someone works out it is her and reports her we were told by a friend of hers that she was told that she will be banned without any reason given.

Oh! Come on now, everyone...

Let's not be so negative. Let's look at the positive and beneficial aspects to this:

It increases cynicism, doubt and suspicion, thereby reducing DailyStrength's membership numbers, it's reputation and revenue.

and i think you are right we are talking about the same person on chronic pain, that is why deb made that separate account positive chronic pain. because that one person (troll) was making all kinds of trouble. But like i said once before, because of that i made lots of friends we all just rallied around each other, and now after everything is said and done i still have you and i dont even remember that person name (smile)

THe banned for life, come on here, knowing they are banned and raise all sorts of hell, prbly what they would not say if they were NOT banned for life.

Suspensions, are ok, but still, banned for life???????

We all make mistakes, and then we eventually see the light, why be punished for a future that is unknown? Sounds ridiculous to me.

I, too, have rec'd a couple of warnings, and what made me so mad, was I reported by a banned for life member and her friends. I guess it was ok for her to use my real name on DS but not ok for me use hers.

BUT, if DS gave her a second chance I would be ok with it, since I am so over that crap from last year.
