I am surprised that what happened to me happened to others too - this is one strange place at times......
But I've benefited overall - so I guess that all in all I'm pleased with my experience here.
Take care.
Guess it shows on a ratio level, how many people are upset by the warning and banning practices.
Carly, the person called Ignore admitted to being permanently banned and knew what would happen if he/she posted here. If DS finds anyone banned or suspended, you get the worst sentence. For instance....you've been banned for two weeks but come back using a diff ID....you are automatically banned for a month. If you have been permanently banned, you will just get deleted altogether with no notice, no email, etc.
It totally sucks...good people get caught in the trap meant for troublemakers. We all get lumped together by DS,
On that note...I "do promise to be nice"....LOL!
Wonder who Ignore actually was???????? Guess we will never really know. But how silly to admit that you were banned like that.
Maybe he/she was just testing things out to see if the group was actually being read. Seems like it is unless someone reported the person. The DS admins might just have it set to key words or phrases as I doubt if they would bother reading anything and everything we write.
At a point in time some of us have been abused by someone online and journaled about it - a healthy thing to do for releasing our feelings - I assume that's what the journal feature is for.....
When we took the appropriate actions (journaling)- and did not name anyone thereby not causing any further uproar - we were admonished/punished for having utilized the tools that this site provides for a healthy release.
Uh huh - ok That's nuts. Why didn't they just lock/close our journals and advise us of that having been done? They close threads when they want to cut down on friction.....
There are other ways of dealing with the friction here - and I do think someone needs to address this.
For you to have the journal removed though someone would have had to report it to them. Just keep them locked in future as I know I have spouted off in mine but as they were locked to friends (or in one case me) I was not reported and didn't lose it.
The only way my friend found out was when she went to read the comments and the journals were gone..........
COMMUNICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the thread that are closed but not removed I think I am right in saying that that is usually done by a CL - WV or another CL might be able to confirm that. But from what I have seen DS either removes some of the posts or the entire thread.
The only one the keep closing is a test one they are doing with WV.
OT here. I wonder how long we can keep this thread going?
Just wish that DS would come and read it and maybe take notes of our concerns. Not just on this one but on others on the board as well ...........SIGH!!!!!!
Had a friend who "got" 2 weeks and was back under a new ID., but I don't think there was any fall out from that-for this person. I feel a bit uncomfortable all of a sudden for wanting to tell the tale....not wanting to get me or them in trouble. Feeling like Big Brother is watching. :) And I did promise to be nice! But it does seem like some get the ax, and other's don't.
Quite often the crime does not equal the time. Unless someone is a Troll or just continuing to be down right mean and cruel, they should be banned for good.
And I agree Hathani..how are you suppose to know what you may have said, and who was hurt if DS doesn't tell? Then there is no way to try and make amends.
If someone has never met you (in real life) they really don't know how you speak and how you feel about things....it can have a bad outcome. And BTW, I don't mean YOU, I mean you as in all of us. lol!
LindaJean...sorry we hijacked your Discussion, but it was a good one. We have been all over the place with it. :):)
Linda I do hope that you don't mind us doing this to you but some really good points have been brought out in this thread. We even had a party in the middle of it.
OK - who has the chocolate - I promised that I would try the one- square-a-day-to-help-prevent-heart attacks-or-strokes. 85% cocoa please. And I will have some hootch with that too.
Carly - not to worry about hijacking the thread - it's hard not to take a thread into a few directions when there are 133 replies on it. But I don't see that you did hijack the thread actually.
And I agree with you about the fact that we have no chance of making amends if we don't know who we offended. We are adults after all - and I do think most of us are not interested in hurting other people on here.
That too would be the healthy thing to do.
That's too funny. No I don't mind - I think the more input we have the better we will all feel. I know I already feel better about the warning nonsense that I was exposed to and the yanking of my journal.
And if someone at the head office gets around to reading this - well maybe they'll learn a thing or two.
Kid should have her computer sorted out by tomorrow so we should be ready to go with one - I have the hootch and we just need the chocolate and some people and we will be ready to go.
I think of all the official groups on DS this would have to be the best one around right now.............. We learn things, we vent (but very nicely ), we have fun.
What more can you ask?
Hat...I know you left the bar open for us, so we treated ourself to the hootch. Taking it straight now, as per your instruction's.
If we can only find a way to get Deb to not steal the choc's receipe that I have tried so hard to get from the little keebler's.
I am thinking, we will continue this post. LOL!
Bear will be back in the morning and I guess Kid is still trying to sort her
new computer out. I know how hard that can be at times.
Maybe we need something other than hootch and the Soda we make - any thoughts?
Also maybe something to have as well as the chocolate?
How about some nice dips and crackers? Cheeses? Nuts?
Maybe we could get some butterscotch hooch??? Or peppermint hooch??
