Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
So she wants a divorce again. It's always one fot out the door with her and no holiday can be complete without her wanting a divorce. I have always fought to fix the relationship. I used to get very hurt by what she says. Truth is I really dont get hurt anymore from it. I tend to expect it. Sex life is gone, we rarely have sex. My hormones may have changed some and so has hers. Its not really my choice, I would like some intimacy but it takes two. In the past I admit I fought against divorce to keep from having to pay anymore child support. I was divorced once before and it was a nightmare with custody and support issues. The kids are grown now. She doesnt want alimony and I will never pay her any becuase I feel like I really tried to make things work. I can barely support myself with the tough times for my business. I guess we need to sell the house and split the assets and debts 50/50. I am trying to see what it feels like to take off my wedding ring. It feels like a lie because I feel like I am forcing my wife to stay married to me. I am going to see a therapist to help me but that help is not available until the middle of next month. The new year is just around the corner. I want things to be different this year. I am tired of drama. I am 49. I need to find a wife that wants to be around me and be intimate. There is no reason I should feel like a burden when I have given many years of financial support to the household.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

Did you ever get that evaluation from a psychiatrist regarding if you are bipolar or not? A psychiatrist is the right kind of doctor to diagnose what you have and get you on the right kind of medications.
That is so great you are going to start therapy. That will really help you. It's only a couple weeks away. Stick with it. Keep talking to the therapist.
Let us know how you are doing. You are going to be okay. You will soon be happier than you have been in a long time. This relationship sounded really toxic, and to both of you. It's better for you, better for her, better for your kids... to go ahead with that divorce and you will see how good life can be. Good luck to you. Keep us posted.
Hey I've been married from over 30 years until recently in a nice relationship, but I don't understand the appear of these constant conflict, problems, no intimacy marriages. Hey, I know people who have one bad meal and don't go back to a restaurant so why would anyone want constant problems and stress. This group is here to reduce stress.
Indeed there are a couple of men in my family, divorced, who basically say tried marriage, didn't work, say they're reasonably happy on their own, with no desire to replicate their past. . Look there can be situations where men are at fault, doing all sorts of housework I can see how much time it takes and if I had to do it over again, would probably ask for particulars in my meal less often, the kids are having meatloaf, can you make me a burger. You can evaluate whether you were at fault and if change on your end could dramatically improve the relationship but you post indicates not.
I can appreciate the idea of avoiding disruption for children but that reason is gone too. So why not call it a day, assuming there's no way of dramatically changing the status quo, try to have a reasonable dissolution, and go your own way.
