My stbx keeps track of how much money is spent. She has been doing this way before we were married. Right now, during our separation, I give her $2,000 a month. She thought that since I am not living with them that she can live on what she make and the $2,000 I give her.
We have been separated since march and she is having a hard time living on $6,000. She wants more from me.
I want to wait until the divorce and let the judge decide on how much I should give her.

Just not all of us live that lifestyle or could afford to. Not everyone owns a family company and gets half.
I have a mortgage, utilities, taxes to pay...I choose to keep the house.
Most of us here have to make the best of what we have. I could of sold the house and paid for the full blown messy court divorce...and paid out the lawyers 80K....gotten 70% of everything and 20 years of spousal support and 1/2 of his pension...Canadian law here.
I choose to take 1/2 ...and mediate...I have a house now..my mortgage.. a home for my children...we live within our means...and he pays out child support. I bartered the pension, spousal and a bag of cash for the house.
I am taking control of my life....and I am aware of how much my Ex is worth...there was no point in trying to bleed a rock.
I do not fault people who get good sums of spousal support..I think the priority for some of us is child support. Thank goodness it is legislated law here, based on ones income.
I must say...you have a hefty mortgage....and it must be a very large home...is it meeting your Needs or your Wants?..with children away from home in university...are you living large because you can?...Just curious.
I know many women who went along and helped support the family business and allowed it to grow and strive because they worked damn hard to make sure it did. I know many women who were there during all the bad times and took on jobs to keep the company going.
so kudos to you that you have something....and you don't have to justify it..but thank you for sharing that with us.
I had plenty... a very good lifestyle...but I was frugal then...and I am poor and frugal now...lol My choice.
