My stbx keeps track of how much money is spent. She has been doing this way before we were married. Right now, during our separation, I give her $2,000 a month. She thought that since I am not living with them that she can live on what she make and the $2,000 I give her.

We have been separated since march and she is having a hard time living on $6,000. She wants more from me.

I want to wait until the divorce and let the judge decide on how much I should give her.

Isn't $6,000 a month enough to live on?

I don't get it. I live off of around $2,000 a month and I even manage to save some. What is wrong with her? She needs to join the real world. Probably trying to live too extravagant a lifestyle.

I just used the calculator, it said I should pay $1,400 a month for child support.

Is there a site that calculates alimony?

I wish. That is completely in the hands of the court to decide that one. But if you are calculating that low, I would definitely tell her that you want the detailed list of expenses with a copy of all receipts and you'll have your lawyer look it over. If you agree to pay more than what the court would have ordered you too, then she stands a chance of winning more money because she can show you are able to pay more.

Although state laws premise keeping the same lifestyle after divorce as before, I think almost everyone here will tell you it just doesn't happen. She's going to have to learn that now that there is two sets of bills, she may have to cut back some. I would tell her that you are unable to pay any more money than what you are already paying. Then see what the Judge has to say.

I lost my nice house because of the stbx and had to move into this rathole rental. Doesn't quite seem fair. No kids with this creep--thankfully.

I liove in one of the most expensive places in North America and I get by albeit frugally on a third of that a month!!

I plan on soaking my spouse if he becomes my X, however instead of giving her more money, I would give your kids more time, and spend your money directly on them, not give it to her. Unless you were a cheater, then I would give her everything, hee hee...
Your In-laws would have nothing to say if they saw you doing with them yourself, kids do not have to be in every freaking activity available either. Mine get one at a time.

We lived on $6,000 a month and also save. She is having a problem not being able to save money.

Boy is she spoiled! You should talk to your lawyer and discuss a temporary reasonable amount and than let the judge finalize everything. Try living on no support for over a whole year. I did! Your very good to her.
