There are many of us like that. We just dont complain. We try our best to put food on the table. To help those around us. To do good and to love all mankind. No matter who they are. And where they came from.

We are the true backbone of the USA.

I agree with your sentiment about caring for people and loving all mankind - but how does that translate into continuing wars that are neither helping the people of the involved countries or helping the American people in any way? Historically the US has propped/supported dictators and ignored violence depending on which side its political/financial bread was buttered at the time. This isn't exclusive to the US and it's not God's will - it's politics/power.

What we did was a sort of war by proxy. We chose a lesser evil to prevent all out nuclear war.

We saved the world. And they say they will shit on our flag.

Guess what? Theres a new kind of war now. We are fighting terrorists. And they are hiding in every country. We will hunt them down and kill them. We will try to prevent the needless slaughter of the innocent as best we can.
But all other countries should be on alert. And find these guys. And stop them. Or we will do it ourselves.

Tell that to the people of Rwanda (which was an entire UN fuckup), the families of the thousands that went missing under Pinochet in Chile. In terms of violence and human rights abuses - what about your neighbours in Haiti? China anyone? Invading countries and continuing wars that only seem to be harming the citizens does not weed out terrorists - it fuels them and gives them more reasons for their abhorrent behavour.

To go back to the original question - I think it's the few that exhibit the profound belief the US is the biggest and best, and beyond reproach, that can give Americans a bad name. I haven't actually met too many people who think this way - and they come from all countries. If I wanted to live in the "best" country, heck, I think the latest stats are putting Sweden at the top re quality of life etc (but all that snow!)
