Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Hi all,
This is my first time on any online support chats, my therapist suggested I join so I can talk with people who personally understand the emotions and effects of high/low episodes. Last summer I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder type 1, then two months later I moved 8 hours away from home to start my freshman year of college. The last few months I have been struggling with motivation to keep up with my medicine, to advocate for myself when I'm feeling off and the overall aching alone feeling. Recently I've been overwhelmed with the fact that my close friends can be selfish and dont want to listen when I try to explain that I'm struggling. The last few weeks I've had panic attacks almost every night before bed and cant shake the isolated feeling. I'm wondering if anyone has some advice on how to deal with the lonely emotions and how to pull myself out of this rut, I'm so sick of crying haha.
Thank you

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

We have a biochemical disorder so it requires meds to help you to be stable
... If it's too much right now for you to be away from home maybe talk with your family about taking some time off to get yourself to a healthy place and to work closely with your doctor
Are you under the care of a psychiatrist?
With regards to your friends and family as well at times... They don't really understand the disorder sweetie
Panic attacks are awful.... I know that the world is in a mess right now.... This isn't just a rut lonely..... You need professional help to become stable and we do have a treatable disorder
I know that it took quite a while for me and I had to take months off of work.... Big hug....This is a good board.....xo
that were in a pandemic there are ways to destress taking time to your self or do something for your self every day as far as friends go I think it hard explaining it to the people your closest to I've be there and it isn't always easy but don't lose hope your true friends will except you and love you besides and if they don't then they weren't really ur friend
I find that fresh air/little walk helps w/ my panic and anxiety immensely...10 minutes
A lot of people don’t understand what we are going thru, so I empathize with you on that.
Keep posting, and we will all try to give advice and support as u need it
