Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

In 2013 I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. About a month ago my psychiatrist put me on an ant-depressant to help with suicidal thoughts. About two weeks ago the medication put me into a manic state. I let my therapist and pdoc know I was shoplifting and displaying manic symptoms. They adjusted my meds. The manic behavior didn't subside and I called my pdoc Wed and Fri telling her my behavior still wan't under control. She said she could see me next Friday.
Yesterday I shoplifted three times at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I went on a rampage out of nowhere. The first time I put a blanket and two pillows in a cart and just walked out with the signals going off. I went back hours later and took two drapes and walked and the signals went off. Reality sets in. I feel ashamed and terrible. I sit in my car and go over what I have done. I can't return the items now I feel. I go back in 30 minutes later and decide to pay for the items myself and discard later what I stole. Somehow in my demented this mind make sense.
I go back to the drape aisle and get some help and then am reaching for drapes when security comes up. She says she has me on video walking out with two drapes. I say it wan't me. Before I went back in I had taken off my long sleeved shirt and just had an undershirt- it was a hot day and I had been in my car stewing with she. She said since I had a different shirt on they couldn't be for sure.
I told her I was mortified at the situation and I would like to pay for the drapes in hand with me. I go to the check out counter and she asks for my name and phone number. I give her my name, but false number. I did pay with a debit card so it won't be difficult to find me. They didn't take me to a back room, have me admit guilt, call the cops, take down my license.
I am so ashamed. All I can think of is the cops bursting down my door. I can't get off the sofa. Thank God I told my husband and he was understanding. I see my pdoc and therapist this week. All I can think of is the cops coming.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

in some of my weaker moments i may have posted some of my fuck-ups, and if this was the reaction i got, i swear to god it might have been enough to push me to a place i couldn't return from.
pack of friggin' hyenas.
. sd we do care a lot about how you're feeling... Every person on here has been in the depths of despair at some point including me... Sometimes we write things to lighten up a situation but it doesn't mean we take your situation lightly sd.... xo
Shall I copy and paste again what I told OP as far as support???
Guess we read and truly understand what we want.
Sometimes I have come on here and been Entirely too silly or comical when a situation probably needed a more serious side. These days I work even harder not to do that if I feel someone may be offended, but I don't "have" to. There's nothing Wrong with being comical, and there's also nothing Wrong with responding to someone that we don't agree with them or their opinion.
What I mean is, I don't think we all have to make sympathetic noises and comments at everyone who posts about everything. That would just be Crazy. :p
Because it's Natural for us to be over-sensitive, we may have lost three fairly new members here over a few recent posts. I really didn't want to add SiRK to that list. When people get emotional and upset it's Not our "fault". Neither is it Their fault, in my opinion. We're just sensitive and it Happens.
I love you guys to pieces - ALL of you. :) When I am out in the real world I don't have the buffer of the computer keyboard to slow me down so I can choose my words. (At home I am Much more likely to say something stupid before I can stop myself)
Anyway, I love you Banshee, and dobie, and sddgrrl, and bacon-lovers everywhere, and people whose hearts hurt, and people who just need to Say something. And everybody Else.
Damn, life is hard. Gotta get some thick skin. We don't have to feel like we're being "attacked" by anyone. That's a choice we make.
Stand up for yourselves.
The person who is at fault here is the psychiatrist. Good heavens! Any medium-talented psych ought to know now to give someone with bipolar disorder and unopposed anti-depressant. You HAVE to take another medication to keep the mania at bay. I would go right now and get myself another psych. What he did is borderline incompetent.
A friend of mine had this experience and went on a manic sex experience, sleeping with all manner of inappropriate people. It was dangerous and you can see from sdgrrl's situation that it can express itself in many ways. Those kinds of compulsions are common with mania. I say, get a new psychiatrist, if possible.
