Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
She's invisible! She's just watching over us, that's all! She, essentially taking over Doug's job!
I don't think she'd let the discussion by SuseQ and BigBeeper go as far as it did!
For that, we lost another member.
We need CONSTANT monitoring!
Echoed: if you have a problem, then you take it up with me, and not the whole board please. You in fact were in denial And I quote:
"But I still think trying to blame someones suicide on what was said on here is a little iresponsible."
Emotional abuse hurts. The affect of it is very serious. Someone's suicide can very well be blamed on someone elses' behavior. I can and will speak my mind whenever I feel the need to call someone on a statement. If you feel that I was being a little to blunt, then fine. But the truth is: emotional abuse hurts, and can be considered the cause of someone else's suicide. My brother committed suicide because my brother's ex told him that she didn't want him to ever be able to see his kids when he really was there finanically for his kids, and he really did love them. Even CYS said they didn't have a problem if he got to see his kids. That must say something, if not a little bit. Yes, he was on disability, and yes he was bipolar. But for her to pass judgement on my brother like that. She repeatedly called my brother a failure. Yes, he was an alcoholic who self medicated. But, he wasn't a failure! I loved him. He committed suicide because of her emotional abuse. My brother was a somebody! He stood up for me against all of my peers who bullied me for no reason at all! He mentioned to many girls that he won't continue to be around them if they were going to continue to beat me up. I was abused every day of my freaking life when I was little. I was passed around by three different men in my family. I was sexually abused and raped by my child's father. How dare you tell me I don't have any compassion! You don't know me! I don't know what you suffered in your lifetime. But, I know what emotional abuse is. And, I know you're in denial if you think that it doesn't cause suicide, that other people's words don't matter! You're wrong! And, I will call you on it every time!
"When we're in a good space, someone's antagonistic and abusive behaviors may make us mad as hell, but won't typically drive someone to make a suicide attempt."
Emotional abuse hurts. My mom used to tell me I was a failure every day for four years. I finally hit the age 18, and ran myself in front of a semi truck. My cousin pulled me out. God Bless her soul. On another note, who is she to judge who wants out of this life. I agree that there should be suicidal hotlines, and people who talk to others when they are suicidal. However, ur saying that my experience wasn't legit when you say that other people's words can't cause someone to commit suicide
Hateful words=suicidal tendencies=suicidal tendendices lead to suicide. I know you're an advocate and all, but words can cause someone to cut just as much as words can cause someone to attempt suicide.
I find that hard to believe. But then I could just be doing my antisocial behavior again??
GRRRRA%###****$%^ opps I slipped :^)
We need to continue helping people and doing it in a efficient manner! We don't need trolls or members whose soul purpose is to disrupt that progress. We need to be organized and insightful. I think we need someone to upheld that condition.
And BPPrincess, never did I minimize your experiences. You misread what I said. I too have PTSD -- My past wasn't rosey either. At no time did I say emotional abuse doesn't hurt and isn't a problem. The situation you just described about your life is truly tragic...and it was repeated long term abuse.
Please read what you quoted again, first of all I said "typically". That means there are exceptions to every rule. And, on the board, we're not talking about years of tolerating abuse. We're talking about days or God forbid weeks.
We're on the same team here. Please don't misread or misinterpret what I said. I think the whole Suze thing is tragic. I'm one of the umpteen million who have reported the asshole. And I hope to heck he's gone soon.
But we're on the same team here. We want a board that functions well and is supportive. I didn't discount your experiences, mine, and not Suze's either.
MT??? Have you just called me an idot?
Huggers.
I am just getting ready to make some business cards and I want to totally fill them up with my various acheivements like Doctors and Lawyers.
I'm saying the personalities go hand in hand, and I am pretty sure that all of those trolls probably display those personalities. I am not referencing to you in any way.
Simon?
There numerous disorders both emotional and mental as there are different types of chemical dependancies. I am dual diagnosed.....alcohol abuse AND BP, WITH PTSD, panic/anxiety disorder. My intelligence and common sence are NOT affected by either when it comes down to it, but I am dual.
