You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hey all!! My name is Rachel. I'm 31 years old from Cleveland, Ohio and I live with my husband and 2 furbabies. I have been pulling my eyebrows and eyelashes for 18 years. I've been to a psychologist, psychiatrist, behavioral therapist and tried meds (prozac, buspar, luvox and anafrinil). For me these just didn't work and I always did better on my own (though I've heard of lots of people who do marvelously with them). I have had periods in my life where I've had all my eyebrows and eyelashes (senior yr of high school and my wedding...that was a shocker). I also have had times where I can stop for a few months and then it all goes down hill. Quite recently I've had a relapse that has been very destructive and lasted a couple months. I'm done...I've had enough and am really ready to stop. I really need to do this for myself. I've had too many emotional set backs lately with relapses, then add not being pregnant yet after 15 months trying, not good. This is the time for me to be motivated. I'm about a day and a half pull free (not that my hands didn't try last night, just got lucky). I intend to keep that going. I'm open to advice and welcome encouragement :) Here's to being Pull-Free!!!

Kathy, it's you guys that ROCK!!!! ((((((((big hugs))))))))
I read some unusual things that can cause stress levels to prevent pregnancy, so when I find it I will send it to you.
You are doing the right thing, coming here and sharing your hard times with pulling. We all have to pick our bottom lip up off the floor and try again, and for some of us, we start over and over, so don't stop!
Stay strong, keep hands down, and when you are sick, try a comb for your eyebrows so that you are able to massage the sensitive area directly behind the eyebrows. (I was told today by the doctor that there is a definite physical connection with pulling hair when sick, especially eyebrows)
Hang in there, you are not alone, and day one, yippee!
Regarding pregnancy - its good all your tests came back fine - for some people it just takes a while - one of my friends got pregnant with clomid so fingers crossed it works for you! I also am on a website for people who are TTC/pregnant/have families/etc and since joining there in dec 08 have seen so many babies born to couples who struggled - including one woman who had ivf after having her tubes removed - she gave birth to twins last month and another who at 41 had 3 miscarriages and took two years to conceive again - she is now 34 weeks pregnant with a (so far) healthy baby. So amazing - very few people can never have their own child - and my BIL and SIL adopted two boys after giving up on ivf - they are very happy! Fingers crossed for you that its your turn soon!!
I really worry about having a baby (especially a daughter) that i would pass trich to them...as well as all my other mental problems lol!
Hope you are feeling better and back on your PF feet again!! x
I also wanted to thank you all for your kind words and encouragement regarding our TTC journey. It means soooooooooo much! This has been a very emotional 15 months for me. Hoping that it will come to a good end here very soon!
Lots of Love to you all!!!!!

Congratulations on the eyelashes! Congratulations on the eyebrows. Knowing you did slip is better to help you be stronger!
Best wishes with your baby making machine time - and the drumroll begins now!
I actually had an ob appt today. The Clomid didn't work this cycle so I didn't ovulate. We upped the dosage from 50mg to 100mg for next cycle when it starts. Fingers, toes and limbs crossed that it works this time!!!!!
Woweee re: 22 days pf on your eyelashes!! Awesome. I've heard that eyebrows are much harder to stop than eyelashes. Weird!! Keep up your excellent work, I find thinking of my goals and writing them down constantly really helps.
