Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

Bed time for me, it will all be easier in the morning.
K, checked my spot, it's not worse. But it's definitely noticeable now. Luckily I can pin my hair over it. But... if I subconscious push my hair back, which I'm prone to do, well, there it is. Genera thinning of my middle part too. I wear it side parted.
I CAN do this.
My hands are still.
My hair is thick and full.
I can do this.

I really do enjoy working from home. I like making my own hours. But.. I always end up working late at night or on weekends which I wouldn't do at a studio job. But I can take a day off pretty much whenever I want. I can work from bed all day. I can drink while I'm working! (not much).
Well I set myself a limit of 3 hairs today, and I've pulled 3. All subconsciously. No more for me! Going out with my friends tonight so it's doubtful I'll get any urges.
:)
Here's to keeping the hands busy.
Hope your night out is fun for you!
well done for achieving your goal.. you are inspiring me once again.. We can do this ! i know we can.
Thank you! I have the same goal today. I'm allowed a max of 3 subconscious pulls and if I don't exceed that, it's a successful day. Willpower!!!
One problem with working from home is that there is no one to watch you when you feel the urge to pull.
Willpower - yes!!! Remember, also the 12-step techniques... (to paraphrase) you are not alone, accept help from a Higher Power to help you through this. I totally champion willpower, but that alone is not enough. I have a friend in AA who explains that it is all about letting go and accepting help.
i laughed out loud at your drinking while working comment hahahaha. Work from bed all day. HOW NICE!! Especially nice on a cold day :P You sure have some willpower though. I don't think i could. I'd end up watching tons and tons of tv shows hahaha and be VERRRYYY lazy.
Have fun with your friends hon!!
Its good you limited yourself to 3 hairs. It's like giving a child ONE piece of chocolate because you know they are going to be bounching off the walls if you don't set rules :P
