Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have been suffering with these issues for so many years. I can't handle loud noises. If a loud motor bike reves it's engine close to me I jump in my car seat. It has gotten to the poin that I can't even sleep unless I have earplugs in. At work, when I have jobs, hearing tools slam and air hoses blow is enough to make me jump. Peoples facial expressions and tones also make me very uncomfortable. If certain workers stop talking to me I become so umcomfortable that I sometimes have to quit my job. Also, some people notice how jumpy I am and mess with me on purpose. At home, I am afraid to even go out in my own yard becuse people can see how nervous and jumpy I am. I do all of my shopping and rumming around late at night. I compensated for all of these issues by becoming a truck driver. I primarilly worked alone and drove at night when there was less traffice and less people out. I can't drive anymore due to a physical injury so I had to try and work around people again. I made it 8 months. Although I mainy quit because of my physical pain. There were other issues that were causing me great mental distress. I was a janitor and some of the office workers would stay late and a few made me feel very uncomfortable. I would dread even having to be around them when ceaning because certain people just set off my anxiety bigtime and then they notice it. It is like pure hell. I have days when I want to flee from my oen house because the neighbors are running their air conditioner and it makes me jump every time it goes on. I know it isn't bothering them because they hear it too. Also, the entire time I was driving the big huge truck, I was scared to death. I get such bad anxiety from driving. I used to fight it. The only time I have ever come close to a real anxiety attack was when making a delivery to New York City. It felt like the entire buildings were coming down on me and Ihad to flee fast. There were crowds of people everywhere. Oh, I did get a little bit better being on painkillers for chronic pain. The painkillers seem to make me more relaxed, but the anxiety is still there. Sometimes I leave ear plugs in during the day just go stop the car door slams and alarms chirping from bothering me. Some people can hear bombs go off right next to them and not even flinch. I want to be that way some day.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Watching people who are hyper-sensitive to sound actually makes me grateful for my hearing problems. The inconvenience of not hearing well looks downright peaceful next to the agony of what hearing sensitive people go through, but then. . . My diminished hearing often gets the credit for my hyper-sensitivity to electric lights. That sensitivity to electric lights goes up to trigger levels when I am stressed out. No fun to the max here in the Light Ages where light pollution has touched every inch of the planet. We all get something, huh?
something to help you. My nervice system is very sensitive. I
startle at any unexpected noise. I have Anxiety. I'm better than I
was but my startle reaction is still the same. Some autistic people
have a sensitivity to loud sound.
