Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Just before the world got shut down, I managed to come off of Paxil (SSRI) which I had been on for 15+ years. I was able to distract myself throughout lockdown and keep myself busy, but in the past 2 weeks I have been completely spiraling.
I feel like I have wasted my graduate degree from a prestigious school, have no job prospects due to my specific experience/skillset, have no friends or partners and can't find joy anymore.
I was prescriped Cipralex via my doctor on the phone 2 days ago and have an appointment with my therapist on Monday, but I haven't been able to eat, speak to anyone or complete any of the tasks I have deadlines for. All day I just refresh job websites despite knowing that I am unqualified for any of the positions near me. I have tried meditating but keep getting distracted by fear and depression.
I am wasting so much time feeling this way and I don't know what to do anymore.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I, too, was shutdown during the vulnerable stages of a major life transition. The suspended animation since has been harder than hard and isn't getting any easier for the never-ending extensions of ^it^. Am I a failure or a victim? Can I get a third choice in here?
I wish I had easy answers for all of us, but? ? ? Maybe we can figure ^it^ out together? Just hoping. . . Prayers in progress.
One of the things we have to do when we need to remind ourselves that we have worth, we are valuable is to look at how our strengths work for us.
Keep on keeping on, and look for other ways you can use your skills.
Best wishes.
I was on paxil for about twenty years and thought maybe it wasn’t working as good as it should.
I am back on it now but it takes time to get the desired effect.
You are taking steps to get well. Stay the course.
Stay with it, my friend. Everything will turn out. Just got to be patient.
Well, live moved on, and even though I lost my last job years ago and had to move home to help take care of a disabled family member, I have not given up hope. I have started trying to teach myself how to write stories, and I am trying to get back into art (trying to learn digital art).
Just trying to say, hang in there buddy. We are all rooting for you.
I too have been on SSRIs for years and had started reducing my dosage a bit because I had been doing well for so long and thought being able to go back up if necessary would be a good took to have. For the first 3 or 4 months of the pandemic I was fine. But then I started falling into this pattern of anxiety popping in for a visit for a couple days about every other week. And each time he showed up he stayed a little longer and was a little more rowdy.
I think this pandemic, and all the stress and isolation that goes with it, is like steroids for anxiety. It's showing up and kicking down doors all over town.
Glad you found your way here, and glad you're getting the help you need.
