Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
My husband started a new job two weeks ago. I am a nervous wreck. He was laid off from another job in November, right before Thanksgiving. Took him 10 weeks to find this job. This job is exactly what he had before, though they started him on a project first.
Anyway, I'm apparently driving him nuts asking to know if he's getting any good feedback, etc. I'm an ANXIOUS WRECK about him doing well in this job. He works remote. He was told they would gear him up slowly. He did on a conference call overhear his first day one person saying (not knowing he was on the line yet) that he thought my husband talked too much and might be high maintenance for asking a lot of question, so he's a bit guarded in asking questions or getting feedback. He has one boss, but is also being farmed out to another right now for a project (and this person did give him some positive input yesterday). I'm freaking out that he hasn't heard back on projects he did last week from his big or anything from bosses (other than the project one) so he can stay busy when he isn't working on this one project. Let's just say, the anxiety has caused us to have a HUGE fight all week. Apparently I'm asking too many questions and driving him crazy.
I am anxious by nature. . .is this normal when you just went through something like a patch of unemployment. My husband says he doesn't feel insecure about it---that I'm making him nuts with my constant need for validation about his job. I'm at the point of going off the edge.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

Is this normal though to feel so upset?
But come to peace with THE WORST. He might be anxious himself and adapting to this new job. You can't control the outcome. He probably needs some support if he's feeling normal pressures starting a new job and those of trying to support his family. This too will pass. Enjoy your free time together....Sounds like you have your own job to focus on which is great. Best of wishes...I have been there and it has driven my husband crazy when I hyper focus on his job vs. my own.
While I prayed so hard for the right job, and I believe that this was a sign, I'm still scared since he doesn't hear much from his boss since the first week. I know he's on a project that's not with his boss---but I think it's weird that his boss wouldn't check in or at least answer questions about band width or the first project the sent over. I know they are expected to be autonomous but if he isn't assigned anything yet (or told him to jump in) while they figure out the cadence for this project, what is he supposed to do? The one person he overheard say he was high maintenance was someone he asked a lot of questions of during the week he was waiting to start, so now he's cautious about asking many questions or for feedback.
Does it get better?
I am in that same place. :(
