In 2007 due to a misdiagnosis for about a year, I was rushed to the ER and had emergency surgery due to a rupture. Originally diagnosed 5 times with food poisoning it was in fact diverticulitis. I kept a journal in 2007 but it seems to have vanished from here so, I am rewriting it here in the hopes when it is read it will be a lifesaver for some of you. Learn from my mistake. If something in your gut tells you the doctor did not go all out for you and instead of looking at other avenues for a solution, GET A SECOND OPINION. Had I listened to my gut 9 years ago I could have avoided 5 major surgeries due to diverticulitis. My doctor brushed my pain off as food poisoning instead of sending me for an MRI to see what what going on in my gut.
