  Has anyone else focused all their negative emotions onto a third party as a way to deal with how they are feeling? My bf has combat related PTSD and episodic severe depression. Before him, I had never really been around someone who dealt with depression. I'm very much an empath, taking other's emotions on myself.   I want to find a text buddy who is in the same situation I am in. Someone to share in the struggle of loving someone with depression and suicidal ideations. I want to be able to be there for them when they need someone to talk to and for them to be there for me when I need to talk.   What effect has dealing with your loved one's depression had on your own life? I feel like I'm going crazy and that I'm falling into depression myself sometimes. I feel like my boyfriend's depression is drawing me down, like drowning in the ocean. I'm being pulled deeper and deeper under the water and I'm not sure I can escape.   I am here, looking for support to help me learn how best to love someone with depression/PTSD. I often feel like I don't know how best to be there for him. Sometimes his depression draws me down with him into the darkness. I hope to learn how others cope and get the support of others in the same situation.
