I've been reading this forum but just now posting. The love of my life, soul mate and best friend passed away May 4, 2010 from a massive heart attack while he was at work. He was only 40 years old (41 on May 28).Rob worked nights (7:30pm - 8am). I talked with him early in the evening a few times and he mentioned soreness in his chest but that he'd be fine .. if it got worse he'd leave work. He called me at 2am and said it got worse and they called 911. He didn't sound panicky or scared and we talked a few minutes.
He walked to the life squad and was talking to EMTs. While en route to the hospital, he lost consciousness and they were unable to revive him. The hospital tried too but to no avail. I don't think the shock of this will ever leave me.
I feel like I'm living a nightmare and just want to wake up. I met him later in my life (I'll be 48 in August). We were together 10 years and married for amost 7 (7 years in July). We have 4 sons aged 22, 18, 9, and 7. The older boys are mine from a previous marriage but Rob NEVER said the word stepsons .. always sons. We adopted our fostersons in March 2008. They were 2 & 3 when they came to us.
I just cannot imagine having to live out the rest of my life without Rob. He was a true family man and we did everything together. I just don't want to do this but know I have no choice.
I'm sorry for rambling but this weekend was a tough one and next weekend will be harder as it is his birthday. I've searched and posted in similar forums and am grateful to have found this site where everyone understands exactly what I'm going through.

I also met Mark later in life - we had been together for 5 years and they were the best 5 years of my life. We were together all of the time - and even his 26 year old daughter said that our relationship was something that everyone aspired to have - something that movies were made of. I've never felt so loved - so secure - so happy.
I also cannot imagine living my life without Mark - but I have to. I just don't know what to do - or how to do it now. I'm sorry to go on and on - but I am so thankful to find someplace where everyone understands all of this.
