I am just over 4 years a Widow. The lonliless seems to never go away. I have 2 married daughters living 20 minutes away but I rarely see or hear from them. (They both teach highschool) One is pregnant with her first child. I found out December 24, she is now 5 1/2 months, I have seen her 2 times. The other daughter 2 times also.. I touch base via email, but rarely hear back. Anyone else finding this, and what did you do? I get pretty low at times. Thanks, and hugs to all. Wendy

My daughters and I are very close. They have been my rock. It's my granddaughter who is 35 years old and have not called or visited since Christmas. I see her twice a year, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think about what my husband used to say when I was frustrated over someone else's actions. He would tell me "Put the problem where the problem lies, it is not your problem." I know it is very hurtful and it is your children, but please, please live your life, enjoy your life. Life brings many twists and turns and what they put out, can easily come back to them.

I have taken a page out of you good people at DS. I am having a cookout Sunday (2 of my kids birthday next week). And invited my kids and grandkids. Its a family thing. We will have fun. I will cook, we will be together, as a family. Break the ice....

This post made me do a lot of thinking! We had the kids and grands over all the time then he passed and I tried to keep those things going but my son became rude and often began arguements I think due to his own grief he held his dads hands while his body shut down and he has never gotten over it. My daughter came but drank and often said how much she hated to come to the house without him. Then I lost the house and moved to an apartment things have never been the same for any of us since we try we all do but it seems like that life is forever gone and I am unsure of how to do even the simplest things so I withdraw as much as they allow.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
