Shingles Support Group
Herpes zoster, colloquially known as shingles, is the reactivation of varicella zoster virus, leading to a crop of painful blisters over the area of a dermatome. It occurs very rarely in children and adults, but its incidence is high in the elderly (over 60), as well as in any age group of immunocompromised patients.

hi all,
I am going to post this info in any shingles support groups I can find;
I had herpes zoster oticus [shingles in my ear], and my postherpetic neuralgia was severe. My GP prescribed me increasingly strong painkillers such as pure codeine, which did not help even slightly.
Once when the pain was really misery-making, I grabbed the affected ear and mangled it as hard as I could, twisting and crushing it every which way. The pain shot up and straight through 'the pain barrier', and then instantly vanished.
To date, the roughest possible massage is for me the only thing that can actually stop postherpetic neuralgia it in its tracks.
I hope this helps. I'd be very interested to hear of how it went for you...whether it could help with other affected areas of the body.

We are having a lunch meeting next week, which I am looking forward to. Yesterday was...

And then I reapply.
I find that when I push through the pain to allow myself to actually touch my skin for applying the cream, I am able to then rub it in with my full hand and with some pressure. It feels gooooood.
I have it in my jawbone, and the itching is all over the scalp which I run off with cold water from the shower head for fast relief.
Thank you!
Best wishes for fast healing for everyone!
I realize this cannot be done for some time but it is a curious thought.

Might be worth a try. Talk to the physician.
Chiros work on muscles and joints. Yeah, they do electrical stimulation, but check w yr. nurse.
Sad to. Say, but it will all take time to heal Give yr. mom lots of green vegetables and really really healthy food. She sounds like she is on the mend. Yeah, she still needs pain killers We all know it. We are all rooting for her you know.
Take care
