As for sites and the like, I have not beeen on many sites actively. So I'm not too familiar with how things run. I was on singles' phone dating lines though where the guy pays for membership while the women pay nothing to be a member. This might explain what guys mean when they say their time is running out.
Not everybody on those sites are there for longterm relationships. That is important to remember. Some of them are there looking for a sex object. You must remember that you don't have to put out for any guy sexually if you don't want to. Sex has to be mutually consentual or it is not legally consentual sex.
You mentionned putting your name on a Christian site. Beware: Just because you encounter guys on a Christian site does not mean they are on the up and up. In my days going to a Conservative Christian assembly I became aware that an elder , who by profession was a school teacher, Saw another teacher in his school sexually exploiting/abusing a female student. The elder claimed not to know what to do, because among other reasons ,he did not want to lose the friendship of this other teacher who was sexually exploiting/abusing a female student. So don,t be taken in because he is a pastor or some other "esteemed member of the assembly he attends. take time to get to know him. But no way start off by giving him your email address. That is a big NAY NAY. An exchange of phone numbers is sufficient, with you getting his first. Then after first impressions you can decide if your phone number is safe with him. Also use another name. For example Heather instead of your real name. I'm assumming your name is not Heather. There are a lot of kooks on those sites, even if they target a Christian clientel.
I have answered personal ads in our local paper in the past and found a couple of men who weren't out for sex. They are out there.
Good luck!
