Let us know how it goes. I broke up with my first post-divorce relationship and am considering trying online again.

Most of the sites say free but they are not.

I tried match.com. I set up an email just for it. On my profile I used a fake birthdate close to my age, fake name and fake city I live in (close to where I live). I didn't put my picture on the site. In the 3 months on the site I went out with 5 men. I checked out the person on line when possible such as criminal records, their address, employment etc. Always met at restaurants. Never had a problem with any of the men, although one was wierd. I never dated any of them more than a few times because I started dating someone seriously and dropped off the site. I would use it again.

I thing you can try paid dating sites there are no so many scammers on them. You will have opportunity to set type of relationship what you are looking for (dating, friendship etc). Also you can use local sites or simply facebook. I usually use facebook wneh I want to meet somebody to go to cafe or cinema. People write a lot about themselves on sites like FB or originclub.com and it's easier to conceive who is this man or woman

I've had someone ask for my email right away on this DS site also. What is the scam? I didn't give it, cuz it seemed like tmi.

Good luck! Just be careful and use your common sense. Meet in public places, don't give too much personal info up front.

please please be careful and don't get scammed. you seem like a nice person ; I don't want to say you should never trust anyone but I hope you have a good meter for things that sound fishy or too good to be true.

also my advice to any woman ( I am one, myself ) is never be the more assertive one....the guy I just started seeing after my husband passed away, he has a great job, wonderful charming man and lots of women here were pursuing him which is exactly what he did not want. He pursued me instead because I was not paying him any attention other than hello. And trust me I am nearly 60, overweight and broke so I am no typical catch. This guy is ten years younger than me , which is new for me and for him. I am in seventh heaven but we are both playing it as more friends. Don't know where it will lead but it is just wonderful to have good company now.

I should add , that ironically I was NOT looking for a new relationship and had in fact told everyone I know that I never would. Ha.
Nobody is more surprised than I am.
Also my other tip is don't share your sad history too much and be fun to be around, smile & laugh a lot. That is a turn on to the right kind of man, in my experience ! I used to be the kind of person that attracted the wrong kind of men by telling them my woes...

Kitty, I visited that site recently just to see what it is all about. It kind of left me feeling worse. Lot of bragging from people who claim to be fit and in perfect health. While I think that is wonderful, a lot of people past 60 have been diagnosed with something or other. I have several chronic conditions but I still manage to be fairly active, I mean I am not a couch potato. Have I gotten the wrong impression? I have not signed up because I am not really sure I want a relationship but thinking it would nice to have a friend, someone to spend time with. If this is the actual reality, I don't think I'll chose to go down that road and expose myself to all that.

One of my siblings has tried dating sites and what she discovered is that there are a lot of married men who are looking for something on the side. She does a background check on them and checks to see if they are truly available and don't have a criminal background.

I do not trust any dating web site as I have had very negative experiences. No offense to men on this web site, but many of the men that I met were heavy drinkers, married with or never married with major emotional issues.

Im with you on the dating issues...im in my 60's and attractive...have been on match.com and met "too" many men...idk whats wrong with me...i cant get attracted...its as if im burnt out on being burnt by my past love of 25 years and the father of my kids...ive gotten help, but it becomes "easy said-hard to do"...im wise enough to know my issues...i just need to learn to love again...i cant take anitdepresants...makes be very ill...i dont know what to do...have lost my desire to even live...i cant get a life alone...and im picking apart every wonderful man i meet...what the heck is wrong with me...anyone else feel this way?

I think most people who say they don't want a relationship are fooling themselves. almost everyone I've known who has ever said that, latches on to the next person that asks.

Hi Gustokitty. Your comment reminds me of a nice guy I went out a few times a few years ago. After a few weeks he backed off saying he didn't want a relationship, was happy with his life as it was, etc etc. A month later he started dating another woman. They've been married 11 years now. He just meant he didn't want a relationship with me.
