Christian Cutters?

I'm turning 16 in 5 days. It'll be my 16th birthday, and the 4 year anniversery of the first time I injured myself. I have been a christian since I was 11 years old. I have been a follower of Christ longer than I have been hurting myself. People accuse me of being a fraud. They've said that I can't truly be a christian if I cut myself. I've heard it from friends and from people on DS. Well, here is my rebuttle. Take your epistomelogical bullcrap and shove it down the throat of somebody who cares. Not me. Not anymore. In case you haven't heard, even one sin sets us apart from God. He is perfect and we are not. I know that I am not perfect, and I know that God doesn't want me to hurt myself. But He still loves me. And Jesus does too. The next time a Christian tells me that I'm going to Hell for cutting myself, they need to take a good, long look in the mirror. God is the only one who's judgment matters. God is the only one who knows whether or not I am a true Christian, regardless of the SI. He see's my heart, and he see's how much I am hurting when I SI. Nobody else can say that I am not true. People seriously need to get off of their high horses. They joke about SI and they tease, because they don't understand it and they don't want to believe that it's real. Well, I hate to break it to them, but it goes back to biblical times. SI is very real and it's not going away. It's time for a reality check.

im a christian and have been for 4 yrs and ive been a cutter for 5 yrs.
ive been told that before and i do think that people are such hypocrits to say that. they need to face reality and stop living in a world that they think is what god wants.
so i understand exactly what u mean.

I'm fourteen and have been a cutter for 8 years. I'm also a Christian, or so I say. I feel like it's impossible to actually be a Christian. My parens don't know that I still cut and no way can I talk to my pastor about it. I feel so lost..... I don't even feel I can talk to God.

HAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this was wonderful to read! been there done that. honey ive been a christian since i was like 5. i used to cut myself in middle school. yes ppl really need to get off their high horse. no one is perfect except for god/jesus him fricking self.

the worse part. when i was a cutter i went to a christain private school for some of the time i was cutting. god got me through that bc it was a nightmare beyond belief!

yeah ppl just suck. i work in retail and i trained to be a cashier. my fav. place? truck days, on the truck, the truck, the boxes, the feed line, and myself!

I don't go to church anymore, but when I was in high school I actually led a min-support group for girls who self injure. I was the first to "come out" with it in my church of about 750 members, but then several other girls came forward who were dealing with it also. The group later came to encompass girls with eating disorders as well. It is surprising how many people deal with self injury, Christian or not.

I think you are right on the money though. Just because you "sin" doesn't mean you can't have a relationship with Jesus. everyone is imperfect, what matters is where you heart is, and if you are actually trying to do better

I agree totally, God knows the pains that we go through and he is our comfort. He won't judge us for being bad fo SI. He created us the way we are, and he loves us no matter how we cope.

I'm a Christian, too, and I'm trying to stop cutting. Here's the way I look at it: when I cut I'm doing it to punish myself or to distract myself, but my Christian faith tells me that Jesus already suffered all the punishment for me. So when I cut myself I'm almost trying to save myself instead of trusting in Him to save me. When I thought about it that way, it really helped me get the motivation I needed to try to stop.

I'm so glad you posted this thread!! It's very encouraging to hear from other Christians who struggle with this.

all i can say to those people that told me i was going to hell, I wonder what they find as an "ok" outlet. porn? weed? drinking? well Im glad God sees the real me and no other fakers, this is a great discussion post :-) I think there are a lot of belivers out there that do SI

YES! you've nailed it! everyone passes such harsh judgement on us, without even looking at their own lives. and i was taught that everyone was equal and that we were supposed to help those who are hurting get into church so we could help them find god and heal, not condemn them. also if you look in the bible, who did Jesus hang out with while on earth? the sinners! he did not come here to save the righteous. "Jesus paid much too high a price for us to pick and choose who should come"

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
