Christian Cutters?

I'm turning 16 in 5 days. It'll be my 16th birthday, and the 4 year anniversery of the first time I injured myself. I have been a christian since I was 11 years old. I have been a follower of Christ longer than I have been hurting myself. People accuse me of being a fraud. They've said that I can't truly be a christian if I cut myself. I've heard it from friends and from people on DS. Well, here is my rebuttle. Take your epistomelogical bullcrap and shove it down the throat of somebody who cares. Not me. Not anymore. In case you haven't heard, even one sin sets us apart from God. He is perfect and we are not. I know that I am not perfect, and I know that God doesn't want me to hurt myself. But He still loves me. And Jesus does too. The next time a Christian tells me that I'm going to Hell for cutting myself, they need to take a good, long look in the mirror. God is the only one who's judgment matters. God is the only one who knows whether or not I am a true Christian, regardless of the SI. He see's my heart, and he see's how much I am hurting when I SI. Nobody else can say that I am not true. People seriously need to get off of their high horses. They joke about SI and they tease, because they don't understand it and they don't want to believe that it's real. Well, I hate to break it to them, but it goes back to biblical times. SI is very real and it's not going away. It's time for a reality check.

THANK YOU. I feel the same way. I stopped going to youth group because I was so afraid people would find out and tell me how horrible I am for cutting. I don't think its anyone elses business, God knows my heart.

Actually...I don't think I've ever met another Christian cutter. I'm kind of interested to know your views on it..do you think it inhibits your relationship with God?

I agree with both of you. God knows our hearts. In the Bible, there was a man living in the tombs and "cutting himself with stones." Jesus healed that man and He can heal us, too, if we let Him.

I'm glad some people agree. For me, I know that God loves me, and I love him. My faith is my life. That is a big part of the reason that I don't turn to drinking or drugs or sex for a coping mechanism. I know that, if I do those things and other's see, it will completely taint my witness. But if I cut, only I see it. I know that God see's it too, but I am the only one who knows that I am coping that way. I know that it's a strange logic, but that's why.

I believe that HE is the only one who is going to get me past the self-injuring.

my pastor told me im going to hell for cutting...but lots of other people say God can heal you from it...just like Jesus healed that man in the Bible that was cutting himself with stones(Mark 5)

im so glad you know that God still loves you. I did a YWAM (missionary school) and itwasnt until then when i figured out that he still loved me even though i screwed up all the time. before that, i was just like why would he still want to even deal with me when i keep sinning the same sin. wow, andi cant believe that cowzmoo got told that they'd go to hell for that... a sin is a sin. it's sad that people are being fed lies. hey i want to recommend you this book, and anybody else. Scars That Wound, Scars That Heal : A Journey Out of Self-Injury - Jan Kern. i haven't read the whole thing, im not a big reader, but this book is good. its a true story of a cutter and she finds help through God. throughout it there's bible verses that are helpful.

My youth pastor lent me that book last week! It's funny that you should mention it! I m having a hard time reading it, so I'm going to start just reading it at church, then talking to him if I feel triggered. It's pretty good so far though. =)

I'm a Catholic cutter. I don't feel my religion has anything to do with it. I know, and God knows, that I am a good person at heart. My depression and cutting is a completely psychological issue that I need help with. There are those people that hurt themselves for God because they believe that they deserve the punishment to absolve them from their sins. I believe that God forgives you of your sins when you are truly sorry for them. My cutting has nothing to do with God, it more has to do with my issues and how I feel that I need it to release my pain and make it a physical sort of manifestation. It just makes me feel better. I've only told a few people about my cutting cause I am ashamed of it.

I am a Christian and a cutter. I started talking to my pastor last summer about my cutting. I expected him to completely freak out and get upset with me and stuff, but he was really cool about it. He has talked to me and let me know that he's here for me and willing to help and just keeps loving me through everything.

For me, cutting is directly related to my relationship with God. First of all, cutting is a way of coping with stress INSTEAD OF going to God and trusting Him in whatever I'm going through. Also, just as with any other sin, it hinders my relationship with God. Not that He doesn't still love me or won't forgive me, but that it makes it harder for me to go to Him because I know I've messed up and just that sin builds a wall between a person and God.

I expected my pastor to freak out too. He didn't, though. He just nodded his head and listened to me rant for awhile.

even when i was a kid i knew better than to believe crazy stories like people "walking on water"

i guess it's along the same lines as santa claus, but people are supposed to outgrow that stuff.

Go is so much bigger then our struggles and sometimes in the heat of the moment we forget just how incredible he is and just how far the east is from the west. Christians are human just like everyone else and we struggle with the same things and we live through the same things and the only diference in this is that we have a savior who has the hope and the strength for us to fall back on. I have battled with cutting for 10 years and I accepted Christ about 7 years ago. I battle deppression and life throws many things at me I have just learnt to fall back on the saving grace that is my God!!

Read all the posts, and it though the turmoils, it gives warmth to know we all hold the same right to our higher power and beliefs. As it is said, let those without sin cast the stone. Beware of those in sheeps clothing. Let those that judge others, judge themselves. Good girl..., good luck on your path, and thanks for speaking up!

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
