I have a hard time include Tupac on the list, though, considering he was charged with sexual battery. It's hard to rationalize using a sex offender's words as a source of comfort for a survivor, ya know?

At least Tupac was sorry for what he did and attempted to make up for it by upholding 'sisters' and not degrading them

mmm, i listen to different music, i listen to mixed African music, loreena mckennitt, Cris Williamson, and classical.

This is going to expose my appalling taste in music, but Duran Duran's 'Ordinary World' sums up a lot of my feelings. I know it was written about something entirely different, but when I hear the lyrics I hear my own situation.

Duran Duran's song "Finest Hour" is also pretty applicable.

I really like Beautiful by Bethany Dillon (You can hear all of these on youtube).

You already have Damaged by Plumb in your list. I don't know that I would call that one uplifting, but I totally connect with it and it's so good to listen to someone sing what's in your own heart sometimes.

Another one that really helps me keep things balanced is They Don't Understand by Sawyer Brown. Might not be just what you're looking for, but it's a great song with a great reminder for all of us.
