Summer vacation is coming up in my country (The Netherlands) and I feel a bit down because I cover myself up completely. I absolutely do not feel comfortable wearing short or revealing things and I don't know what to do.
I will go on a vaca in a couple of weeks and a bikini/bating suit just does not make me feel comfortable. I hate people staring at my body, let alone when I'm on a beach.
Do you guys have any advise, and you any of you feel the same?

I was sexually assaulted as a kid. I find it hard to accept that another person's actions caused me so much harm. He made bad choices and now I am paying the price. Stupid PTSD!
I know with guys, they have board shorts ( swim shorts that go down just past their knees) and swim shirts...my son wear both. The shirt is kinda like under armor clothes.. spandex, yet comfy..
he wears them cause he's less likely to burn, plus if we go somewhere and I forget sunscreen, he's ok.
I have him wear the shirt cause he's a cute, and adorable kid ( we knew that, but others have always told us too).
I don't want him ending up on some freaky website used by wrong ppl... it protects him much more..
the place we swim and play in the water he generally the only kid, or very few who is wearing a shirt, but I don't care about that, and it doesn't faze him one bit!
I plan on buying one of those shirts really soon for myself too..
My wife wears a swim suit but also wears a cover-up too. She doesn't like being looked at, nor other laughing at her... she just covers up...
No one says you have to wear a two piece skimpy bikini...
honestly, I'm never been a fan of skimpy anything ( guys or gals) I'm there to relax and have fun, not be distracted by that crap... ( I'm not looking, but I have to hide my eyes when that comes in to view... would rather enjoy the beach)...

Your post helped me a lot! I'm planning on buying a surfers like wetsuit. My mom tells me I should wear a normal bating suit but I feel like she does not understand that for me, nudity equals rape and flashbacks etc. Your post made me realize that what I am experiencing is perfectly fine for my situation.
